    Isal m'man

    - You can make a list for EVERY SINGLE FIGHTER on the opponents they didnt face.

Cotto fought Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Judah and Quintana at welter (among others)... none of those fights were pushovers at the time, all were good, decent fights for him when he took them.

    You talk about unification

Against Clottey, if boxing politics hadnt been involved, that would have been a unification fight man.... Clottey was the IBF champion.

another unification fight would have been against margarito.

You cant hold boxing politics against cotto for not having fought other champions.

I look at the quality of fighters they fight, not whether those fights hold trinkets or not.

You bring up a baldomir fight, cotto didnt even move to welterweight until after baldomir had ALREADY LOST (easily) to Mayweather.... cottos first fight at the weight class was against undefeated Quintana for a title (a guy who many thought could and would beat cotto)

Why would cotto, in his debute at welterweight, fight a guy that was just schooled by mayweather, for nothing, then fight undefeated quintana in an all PR showdown and on top of that, for a title?

By the time they would have fought eachother (after baldomir had taken a long ass vacation), baldomir had already went on to lose once again to vernon forrest while Cotto had more momentum then ever and was becoming a big name in the sport.

Never were these two ever on top of the division at the same time for any period of time...

Bringing up cotto not fighting baldomir is just unrealistic revisionist history.

    Why didnt he fight Cintron?

He did one better, he fought the guy that made Cintron cry and crawl around the ring.... why you would even bring cintron up when cotto went on to face his conqueror in a hugely anticipated showdown is again weird.... and makes me wonder if you have something against cotto for some reason because these are not rational critics against him.

The only rational critics that can be brought against Cotto for people he didnt fight was Hatton at 140, Williams at 147 and Mayweather at 147.

lol Cotto..who has this guy fought? getting beat up in fights doesn't make you a good fighter....time for Cotto to start stepping up the comp so he can retire. he gets mauled @ 154 by all the top fighters.

He is too robotic and stiff, he won't go beyond being a B level fighter.

He's still really raw, above average but nothing special, I'd rate him better than Cotto though

cotto really ****ed up by fighting mayorga . even if he did fight a game opponent that made sense as far as rankings overall when both careers are over saul alvarez is gonna be better. hes only 21!!! and in his own opinion hes ready 4 the best so lets see if we can get him in there with cotto .

sense we all kno he aint getting in there wit may.

man i wish martinez never moved up to 160 !! if he stayed at 154 he would have been way more interesting fan friendly match ups .

martinez v cotto at 154 would tell us alot.

but back to the topic when sauls career is over hes gunna be better then cotto hes gunan start putting together a nice resume .

Too early to tell. Plus, Cotto is an Olympian as well, something Canelo has never done. He is being brought along well but his record is padded.

We'll just have to wait another 4-5 years to see what Canelo does. I think we'll have a better look at how his career stacks up against Cotto by then.

Based on the last 6 months ive actually got Cotto beating Canelo despite being absurdly out sized

WTF? Canelo's definitely the future of the division but who has he fought that would allow anyone to assume that he could beat Cotto right now? I agree that he's very strong and extremely mature for his age but Alvarez brings nothing to the table that Cotto hasn't seen already. Trust me, he needs more seasoning before you put him in there with Junito...maybe Molina first.

His new trainer is an icon in Cuba and will do wonders for Cotto's conditioning without tinkering too much with his style. Canelo's team would do well to steer clear of Junito in 2012.

Cotto still needs to prove himself at 154, just like Canelo does.

As far as I'm concerned, both of their best wins at 154 are against two has beens.
