Ward would bully Dawson to an 8 - 4 kind of decision, Chad doesnt have the stomach for a battle and isnt as rounded as Ward.
Ward had a little bit of trouble with the outside game of Froch the first round. Dawson's outside game is much more polished, and he's much faster than Froch as well. I suspect Dawson might win three of the first four rounds. But then I see Ward starting to take over as he works his way inside and starts grinding Chad down. Once Ward figures out how to get inside to do his work, he'll likely win four of the next five. Chad does have a strength advantage, though, and might be able to outlast Ward, who might get tired wrestling with someone naturally larger and stronger. That might give Chad the advantage over the last three rounds. Who takes those last three rounds all depends on which Chad shows up. He's just as likely to simply fold and not up the intensity as he is to sense some desperation and hold off Ward. Either way, we'll be looking at 115-113 type scores.
I think it's a pretty boring style matchup but if ward's abilities translate to lhw more, I dont see him losing. he has more dimensions as a fighter and he's shown the desire to TAKE wins decisively, whereas chad's only shown that once, against glen johnson the first fight, and never again after that.
Although Chad Dawson is at LHW Ward did fight at LHW in the amateurs although both pro and amateurs are different we can't say Ward has no experience in that weight. I personally like Ward because to me Dawson seems like an underachiever and underperformer. I think Ward has those intangibles that Dawson lacks and would be the difference in the fight.
Andre Ward beats him. Ward is an active fighter, Dawson isn't. Dawson would have trouble against ANY active fighter, against someone like Ward it would be a nightmare.
based on what i've seen of dawson, i agree. ward is not as strong and is smaller, but is faster and has a certain brutishness that helps him as his fundamentals back it up. he clearly outclassed froch, more than i though he would, and i could see froch and dawson having a great fight. styles make fights though so you never know. FROCH BUTE WAR!! (just had to say it)
I don't think there's much difference between Dawson and ward in terms of IQ. Both are clever fighters, probably ward pips Dawson to it narrowly but then Dawson is slightly more physically gifted
I'm not sure about that. Pascal ran the same gameplan the entire fight, and Dawson didn't finally start doing something about it until the last couple of rounds. I don't think Ward would have been puzzled for so long against a rather one-dimensional plan like the jackrabbit technique Pascal was using.
