He wanted the Ward fight in Oakland. Ward doesn't want the fight.

Not to mention Bute will be doing a follow up fight against Froch in Nottingham. He's only fighting a top guy now cause they were locked up in the supersix. ******.

You started posting in this thread using "Bute aims for someone coming off a loss" and you were off track.

Bute aimed for Ward first. Ward declined. On to Froch. The same way they were on to Johnson after negotiations with Kessler, and then Pavlik failed.

Don't make it sound like he's cherry picking a loser, that's all.

    Can you believe these people...

    - First it was Bute not wanting to get in the S6 and only wants to fight bums....Truth is the organizers didn't want him there because he wasn't part of the American country club or the European one. They ****in' owe Bute some respect by allowing him to prove his worth because they prevented him from competing in the S6 !

    - Then Bute only wanted to fight at home and never travel....Truth is his promoter accepted fights in the US against Taylor in summer 2009, prior to Taylor losing to Froch; then accepted to fight Froch in Nottingham for September 2009 (the S6 & Andrade rematch changed that); then accepted to fight Pavlik in the US in summer 2010 but Pavlik lost, then again in 2011 but Bob Arum wanted the most money, therefore it had to be in Montreal. Now, they openly say they are ready anytime to fight in Oakland against Ward.... BOTTOM LINE, since 2007 only 1 offer was made by any other promoter for Bute to fight, one single approach to fight...... It speaks volumes.

    - Now Bute has to prove he deserves a shot at the best....Truth is if Bute doesn't deserve a shot at the best now, knowing the circumstances and seeing the big picture instead of just an imbecile & narrow minded opinion, then no other fighter at SMW does at this point.

It will be nice to see Bute fight a legitimate contender. I'll be pulling for Froch in these, but Bute deserves some kudos for stepping up. Of course, if he weasels out of the fight in England, all that good will goes away.

I'm convinced that Froch will beat Bute twice, but if say Bute wins the first fight in Canada, what are the odds of him then deciding he doesn't fancy a return in Nottingham?

In an interview with Boxing News, Showtime's Ken Hersham stated quite clearly the reason Bute was not invited to participate in the Super Six was due to his previous reluctance to fight decent fighters outside of Canada. It was nothing to do with his nationality.

He doesn't have to. He might get sued though. Happens all the time in boxing.

I guess it would need to be written into the contract that no one gets paid until AFTER the 2nd fight. Then if Bute bottles out of the 2nd fight, Froch would simply take both purses from the first fight.

There isn't a link. Boxing News is a paper. No newspapers are archived in full on the web. It's common knowledge in the UK where Boxing News has it's widest circulation. If you phone Boxing News and ask for a copy of the issue with the Ken Hersham interview just after the Super Six was announced, they will send you a copy.
