He's also been on a steady diet of stiffs. And has more technical flaws. Jones has been more tested. There's not even anyone close to Karass on Brooks record. It would be a very close and interesting fight though.
I think Karass is superior and more of a test. I'd like to see Brook try and keep him at bay. I just don't get the Brook hype. I see a tone of flaws and a lot of smoke and mirrors.
The most impressive jones has looked imo is his min long flurry vs karass. Which is is to say, even then he wasnt very impressive.
Hope Brook gets a shot at Senchenko some time next year. He could beat Senchenko right now. That stay at home fraud probably won't give him a fight though. He'd need a few more fights before he's ready for the likes of Berto.
Exactly. And look at the competition faced. Berto no.3/4 welterweight in the world and barker faced number 3 p4p rated fighter. Fair enough zbik only faced Chavez Jr but he put on a good performance and lost a close decision
I'd like to see someone who didnt fight scared or give up before being stopped against Kell. N'Dou is as tough as they come & he only just survived. I respect your opinion but I think Kell is special.
Im not entirely sure, Kell was getting hit with stupid shots against a club level fighter even though he was hitting the guy clean he showed no lateral movement whilst Jones hasnt impressed me either, although someone may need to show me one fight where he has looked spectacular at a high level. Still Ill be glad if this fight comes off
The flaws? Well, lets start with the overrated power. The stiffness up top with very little upper body movement. The constant coming through the front door and walking into punches. His head is on a swivel ripe for counter punching. The smoke and mirrors switch hitting (which he's toned down, tbf). Don't get me wrong. He has talent, good punching form, decent poise, very good jab etc. But nowhere near as good as people are making out. I think he would have a problem with good pressure fighters who maul him, or precise counter punchers. I've watched him from the get go, btw. And i have seen improvement in him. So we'll see...
Kell Brooks has Mike Jones' blueprint, but guess what they never made a blueprint on how to beat Kell Brooks.
:good didn't mean to sound like a dick, just didn't think you were gonna back up your statement with good knowledge No doubt he has flaws, but so do all boxers. I think his power is overrated, but he does have decent power still and throws great combinations. I mean he's stopped his last 10 of 11. Even if the competition hasn't been as good as it could be, that's still quite impressive. And his upper body movement is something I'd think would improve with a better and more experienced trainer. But I think the key point is that he has improved since he started and should continue to improve, which is why I still think he's being pushed to quickly, but with the big money in the sport there's no way you can blame Kell and his team for wanting to push for world titles. So like you said, we'll see.
