I make no secret of the fact I am a huge fan of Carl Froch, and I respect his willingness to draw guys into a shootout. He has the heart of a lion..
    BUT...
I read today Carl saying he didn't listen to Rob during the fight and tried to do his own thing. He's not making the best use of the best trainer in the country IMO and although there are a small number of exceptions(Ali,Floyd Jnr) who always did or do their own thing,I don't think Carl is in that league.McCracken is a wonderful trainer, and this is the third time at least, that Carl has blanked him in a big fight, and it has cost him dearly twice.
I'm not saying for a minute that it would have changed the result, but what is the point in having such a highly regarded trainer if you won't listen to him when it REALLY matters? He'd be as well just having a S&C guy and have his girlfriend in his corner:patsch
Seriously though,I said before the fight he MUST listen to Rob for this one,and will McCracken put up with this if it keeps happening?:think
Come on Carl,we want you back on top.You have balls of steel and there's a world of respect for you,but tune into that man in your corner and you can make it back up there mate.
Any thoughts would be welcome guys. Thanks for reading:good

I watched the showtime coverage again for the corner work and i did notice that as well. But honesty no amount of listening would've helped. Carl just wasn't good enought to beat Ward.

He seemed totally lost in the ring.

I am sure McCracken was saying to froch

"hit his left fist with ur face as much as u can Carl!"
    "good u broke his arm!"
"do it to his right now!"

I'm not saying for a second that the result would have been different guys.
Just saying this happens quite a lot with Carl.Just think he should make more use of such a good trainer.
Pascal,Kessler,Ward. That's just the ones I know about.
I know if he had an earpiece in with his corner's advice DURING the fight it wouldn't have made a great deal of difference!

I couldn't hear what was said in the corner, so perhaps you could enlighten me?

McCracken is a a highly respected trainer and I thought that him and Froch did great together. I'm a little surprised.

We had too many ads during breaks.I didn't realise till I read Carl saying it today.Except late on,but the fight was gone by then.
He's notorious for not listening to Rob.Got away with it v Pascal, not with Kessler and while I agree Ward was on a different level,Carl's actually coming out and admitting he didn't listen now.

Do you have a link? I'd like to read it.

Seriously carl is stupid for not listening to McCracken, but as you say it probably wouldn't have made a difference.

Don't hang this loss on a fighter/corner disconnect in the ring.

Carl admitted after the loss that he barely trained for infighting/clinch-fighting at all and that he paid for it. That's as much McCracken's folly as his own. More, actually.

McCracken failed Froch in the preparation far more than Froch failed McCracken between the bells.

If they didn't train for infighting then ...............ppppffffttttt....... What a noob mistake man. Ward excells at that discipline and that's the way he fights.

    I cannot believe it.

Froch hardly ever listens to Rob, TBH as IB said McCracken should of trained that part of his fight plan.

TBH when a coach/trainer begs a fighter to do something there's a problem. I mean this sorta stuff 'Carl, please listen to me mate, i need you to work the jab then put right hand behind. come on Carl..' it's Rob's body language that makes it seem more begging then telling.

For me there to friendly to work together. He says Rob's like a brother and that's probably part of problem. If i was Rob i'd have a meeting and say 'you don't listen to me from now on, i'm done training you'. To late really but just something that maybe should of been done long while back. He's only ever listened in the AA fight really..
