I love how Canadians are now boxing fans and joining in with the discussion, that's great for the sport and I love how they host mega-events that are almost always sold out. All of that is actually amazing. Though for anyone sane to claim Ward would be ducking Bute must seriously be smoking something illegal on a regular basis.

 

On his journey to greatness, Ward could face Bute for a third belt and get the last one from Kessler to become the undisputed champ. It might go the other way, having Ward vs Kessler II before he feels ready to give Bute's belt a try. In the mean time, Bute will have Froch and maybe Dirrell to add to his resume. Maybe, just maybe, because by then, Ward will probably be an HBO LHW fighter, Bute will have proven enough to face Ward in Vegas for the #1 spot at SMW. Doubtfull if you ask me...

Because I'm the only Canuck in this thread so far, I'll answer this; I never said Ward ducked Bute. You can search all you want, you'll never find that textbook. One thing we know is that Ward dismissed Bute's opposition when asked a potential Bute fight. That was his answer to a question along the lines of "would you be interested in fighting him"... said he wanted a break, and proposed that Carl be up to fight him. Which he did. Ward could have hinted at maybe fighting Bute later - he didn't. Whatever... he could be less condescending. I posted in a "Bute ducked Ward" thread, but do not support the OP. I made points that were unrelated to his original post.

Then the Interbox president revealed Goosen told him he preferred an easier fight for Andre's homecoming. The window of opportunity for a full unification however is a bit slim. Mandatories could **** everything up if that's the goal, especially from Showtime's standpoint.
