Why do you think Pacquiao even stands a chance of beating Mayweather?

Not trying to put words into your mouth - simply trying to understand what you point actually is!

People assume Floyd will adjust to every style put in front of him even if he hasn't faced quite an opponent like Pac who matches his speed, throws in volume, and has the stamina for 12 rounds to keep up the high paced pressure. Oscar was even with Floyd through 8 rounds until he gassed. And that was mainly due to Oscar's high activity and not so much punch accuracy or his weight advantage. Hatton did relatively well against Floyd through 5 rounds until he showed signs of slowing down. That's when Floyd started to really pick him apart.

As far as beating Pac, a certain style has shown to be effective against him: movement, volume counterpunching, and to be able to initiate your own offense from time to time and stand toe to toe with Pac. Marquez did this several times while Morales perfected it. Those 2 have styles that are very different with Floyd. Pac has already beaten a slick styled linear champ in Sasakul who isn't quite in the class of Floyd. Floyd has beaten some aggresive come forward fighters but not in the same class as Pac.

    Personally, I think it's a 50/50 fight given what I've pointed out.

    I thought it was pretty obvious;

that Pacquiao's chances of beating Floyd are slim-to-none and I find it laughable at the sheer amount of people who seem so confident Pacquiao beats him but cant explain themselves, they cant explain how he wins.

Good points made! the only thing I would add is that mayweather does seems to have an affect against the fighters he fights - his style means that Hatton and de la hoya weren't able to fight the way in which they did in their previous fights.

But Marquez was well beaten by mayweather and this is the comparison that carries the most weight for me. I think that Pacquiao will get careless and reckless in the later rounds and get picked off....late stoppage for Mayweather.

    Ah I get it now!!!!

I think that the chief reason people have that opinion is they look at Pacquiao's results against Hatton/ De Lay hoya etc VS mayweather's.

They fail to take into account that these guys were finished at that stage>

Its like Khan. You can look great vs the right opponent.
The mayweathers know Floyds few weaknesses and they carefully make a team effort to put him vs fighters he can outskill and craft.
The barometer is Cotto. Once Pac dismantled Cotto even insiders knew the fight would never happen.
You can watch Castillo 1 u can see an agressive fighter stalk and control every aspect of the fight after the body work was done in Rd 5.
The left hook to the body of Cotto was something that was probably deemed as risky by his team and thus a business decision was made to avoid the risk.
Floyd is not at his best at Welter.
Pac wont happen just like Miguel didnt happen.

If They believed Floyd could beat Pac as easy as his fans claim there would have never been talk of PEDs. The PED conversation is usually an excuse after a fight by the loser.
You can look at the missing prime A level opposition on his resume and the double retirement with unwarranted accusations and clearly you can see whats really going on.

Grander is not a moron, but he is a SUPREME NUTHUGGER. From time 2 time he'll say something that make a little sense (although very rare). The problem I have with him and other Pacquiao dick-riders and FMJ Haters is that they only see one side of an issue...It's Pacquiao is great, Mayweather is alwful. Example...Listen to this: Marquez is a better counter-puncher with better defense than Mayweather. Marquez moves his feet better than Mayweather. If Zab Judah can outbox Mayweather so can Pacquiao. Mayweather will stay against the ropes and Pacquiao will throw bombs-away and ko FMJ. And my personal favorite: Pacquiao has slowed, lost a step and declined since the Cotto fight, but will still KO Mayweather.

They will give Marquez credit as being a better boxer than Mayweather, yet will not give JMM credit for being a better Boxer Pacquiao, but will intsead say "JMM SIMPLY HAS PACQUIAO NUMBER". Even though ALL of them predicted a Pacquiao KO Easy victory over JMM. And then when Pacquiao showed NO improvement and looked like the same Flawed fighter...they claim he has lost a step, slowed and declined. I hope you can follow all of that...cuz' I have gotten dizzy trying to understand their PACQUIAOISMS!

I don't see much of a chance.. I see Floyd using his footwork to keep Pac off balance and completely confused while landing some seriously effective Pop shots n counter punches. Some people think he needs to exchange in combinations to win like Marquez, but I don't think that's necessarily true.

To answer ur question though.. Pac's best chance is outwork Floyd and either land one great shot and seriously hurt Floyd or win a close decision due to volume punching like he did in his last fight with JMM.

One thing Floyd HAS to do though is stay off the ropes.. I don't think it's a good idea to sit on the ropes and allow Many to unleash his combo's like he has a habit of doing against other fighters.
