Hey, I don't condone it, but I do understand it and my only point was, he's only engaging in the same **** we hear from other mouths. The implications and direct things being said about Pacquiao from those that either think they have a shot at him or are linked with him? Why single out Martinez? Mayweather and company, ****, even ironically now that he trains at his gym, Malignaggi...I believe Cintron and Campbell were even in there. It's all just playing media games, shameful or not and he's joining in, not doing anything outrageous by the standards that were set before any talk of him and Pacquiao came up. It doesn't make it right, but if you judge him harshly for it, it might be best to grade him on a curve, with his peers. That's all I'm saying.

    Indeed, mate. :hat

True, we wouldn't be, but as I said at the time he was placed over him, the logic behind it was looking sound enough to not be particularly controversial, as it's guesswork meant to give people an adequate understanding, at a glance, of how well regarded fighters currently are at the top of the food chain and that's all it really is.

Now, who in the hell can he beat in middleweight to "cement" his legacy? Pirog? Who has Pirog beaten? If people say Martinez beat a druken Pavlik and an overated Williams then who has Pirog beaten better than and drunker in Pavlik and an overated fighter in Williams? How about GGG? Same as Pirog! Proksa? Same as Pirog but I give Proksa a bit more "credibility" because he atleast beat Sylvester. How about Sturm? Good fight for Martinez but Strum won't leave his country. So who else? Chavez Jr? Arum won't let Chavez Jr fight Martinez and besides other than the payday how can Chavez Jr help Martinez "cement" his "legacy? And to top it off "legacy" doesn't pay bills especially after you retire from boxing!

I do agree that he won't get a fight with Mayweather and Pac but **** atleast try to get one with Cotto right now that he is a free agent or Canelo that GBP seems to be more workable than Top Rank. Or just move up and challenge Bute, Froch, Abraham, Ward, Direll, Taylor, Pavlik for a decent payday!

If he is a small MW than he should of stayed at LMW, dont you think? Don't get me wrong, Martinez is my favorite boxer but him and his manager saying that he is too small for SMW and MW than why not just move down to LMW where he belongs?

if hes such a small middleweight, why doesnt he fight the 154 guys out there. plenty of people he could fight.
instead he calls out welterweights. or are you suggesting martinez is actually a natural welter?!

pac is a small welter. martinez is a big light welter. facts

I was just thinking the same thing the other day, he is very overrated (p4p #3 is comical with his resume). I think ability wise he's very good, but i doubt he'd beat Floyd, however he could do well against pac simply becasue he is a skilled fighter who is also much bigger. Also, the pavlik win is not the sort you can use to justify p4p #3, pavlik was grossly overrated.

He is not over rated at all. He has legitimate one punch KO power, which is rare. My only gripe with him is he campaigns at middleweight, yet is always trying to fight guys smaller than him. I really dont know wtf is up with that, but it makes me hate him.

Nothing you posted suggested he's overrated.

In defense of Sergio, he's said he'd be willing to fight Andre Ward or Carl Froch at a catchweight, but he'd prefer fight guys like Pac or Floyd as of now.

He tried to get fights at light welter for years and only moved to take on Williams on short notice because absolutely no one wanted to face him. Why should he give up his belts and the little leverage he's gained since that time when he'd in all likelihood be facing the exact same scenario at 154 that he is at 160?
