No need for a super heavyweight division. There's only ever been the Klitschko's and Lennox Lewis who are 250 lbs plus, 6'6 plus that can actually box and dominate. That's about 2 or 3 men in well over a century.

For the most part being that gangly works as a disadvantage as far as coordinations is concerned (Lance Whitaker, Primo Carnera etc). Plus they usually have stamina problems when they're anything over 240lbs. Lennox was just the first guy to be that size and combine so much skill with it.

The smaller heavyweights today just lack the skill to beat them, it's less to do with size. They just have to get better, because in other eras the Klitscko's wouldn't be dominant even if the fighters were much smaller. We don't need another division in boxing, there's already far too many.

Read carefully guys, its not creating a new weight class just renaming it and making 210 pounds least you can weigh when its come to a super-heavy fight.
By binging in the heavyweight div (cruiser) up higher by 10 pounds it could allow...Haye, Chambers, Adamek to stay in the div and make money as its not profitable.

Not to clued up about anything beloe 130...except for C. John and Gamboa.

I honestly belive it would make boxing alot healthier, more competitive and more sense...7 weight divisions, are alot easier to keep track of.

Also you can still keep 4 major orgs, again it would make things far more competitive as weight classes were to prevent Manny ever taking on C. Arreola as it would be far to much of difference but we dont want to go the other extreme and have so many divisions for as little as 5 pounds.

One thing i noticed is the the Heavy division 210 would be far more exciting and that Welter 147 and Light-heavy 175 would be stacked and you would see survival of the fittest this improvement in performance.

All of Povetkin, Arreola, Boystov, Pulev would be cutting weight more likely and fighting at your "Heavyweight division". Leaving a division when the Klitschko's retire of Fury, Dimitrenko, Ustinov, Grant, Welliver, Helenius and Fields excanging titles every few months.

Are we really to believe the likes of Haye, Chambers, Adamek, Huck, Lebedev, Tarver, Hernadez, Cunnigham, Wlodarczyk and J. M. Mormeck wouldn't move up to face clowns like Fields and Fury in order to become the most important boxer on the Planet? I think not.

The HW division would then become what the CW division is now. In general boxers follow the money, Haye and co would still be off to fight the likes of Wlad.

Also, with such rulings we may well have never have seen the likes of Tyson light up the HW scene for example.

Jukebox Timebomb is on the right path, you're gay.

  10. I think Lebedev would give Haye big problems.

Why is 5'10 Tyson and 215 pound Holyfield not amongst that list? Is it because that would ruin the notion of a division for super heavies?

Your suggestion deprives us of the Holyfield-Bowe trilogy and the young sensational Tyson streaking through a number of super heavies. Be gone with you.

Not at all, just pointing out the last 4 dominant champions, I think Chambers is a fine fighter, and he is only 6'1 and 208 pounds...so yes perhaps Haye, Adamek would have moved up despite Heavy (my suggestion being 210.

Im not arguing about creating a new weight class just showcasing the huge size that heavyweights are, Povetkin is small by today standards but he is actually a big heavyweight...6'2 and 225 pounds is big.

Eespecially when guys like J.J. Walcott 6'0 197 pounds and S. Liston 6'1 215 pounds were considered huge.

Im not trying to reshape boxing with my suggestion in a way that takes away from the sport....trying to make it better with just 7 weight classes.

You can understand where the word lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight first started happening as they connoted the size of the fighter.

Im just trying to simplify the meanings, I would have thought it best for boxing to move with the times, thus creating a a better climate of competition rather than let fighters hide in weight classes.

I cant see the major orgs letting go, so perhaps a worldwide agreement between them could in fact improve boxing.

If it happened like this, certainly the heavyweight division would look less but :lol::lol: Arreola losing 40 pounds isnt happening.:lol:
