That's exactly what a journo is supposed to be doing, sorting out the bull**** from the facts! If you can't tell the idiot from the expert then you should not be reporting.

Sometimes it can be a fine line between reporting the news

    and

putting your own spin on things

If Ricky Ponting said at a press conference that he will score 8 centuries in the test against the indians

    would a reporter say

this isn't true i am not reporting it

    or report it

I know it is an exaggeration but

reporters report what happens and what is said

Mundine whether you like it or not is a high profile athlete

His feud with fenech has had 1000's of lines written about it

so the 2 of them ending there feud

is news worthy and worth reporting

Fact checking & research is an integral part of reporting. You can't just shrug your shoulders claiming "Well that's what he said".
By all means include the comment but then compare it with previous similar rants, or performance results . . .
Ending the feud is one thing, and fair to report on, claims of fighting Wlod are just a waste of space.

He gave that whole lot of nonsense credence by referencing the roy jones v ruiz weights. Do you really think anthony would fight wlodarcyck at cruiserweight weighing 76 kg??

This imbecile obviously does. Or if he doesnt, he still went ahead and wrote it...so either way, he deserves ****.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Mundine could try to do what he said, although it is extremely unlikely, but it's not the journo's job to decide what he thinks is believable and what is not, and write his article quoting only those comments made by Mundine that he has decided are believable - that would be censorship, and who wants that?

He's a reporter, he's simply reported verbatim Mundine's comments :patsch

    Lol.

It was nothing more than a fluff piece for mundine. That doesnt deserve criticism just on that alone???...you know, its not like mundine hasnt made a career out of telling lies.

And no...it IS definately, total, unfabricated bs that mundine would fight the pole weighing 76 kg. he wouldnt fight that polish guy at all. More criticism for that.

You sound like the media are beyond criticism if they write pieces that quote morons.

However you want to look at it, it was a bs article and didnt deserve to be told since its that far fetched its fiction.

Of course it's a fluff piece but I don't get all the hate for the journo, when it's Mundine who's spouting the bull**** - the journo's just reporting it. If this interview was loaded onto youtube would you bag out whoever filmed and uploaded it?

A journo's job is to interview subjects and report accordingly.

They are also supposed to verify any facts that they use in their articles.

Point out a single fact that he has used that isn't true?

    How so?

    By quoting Mundine verbatim?

    With statements such as these?

"AS far as mind-boggling plans go, fighting a 72kg world champion followed by a 90kg world champion is extreme even by Anthony Mundine's standards. "

"Mundine is confident of inflicting the first defeat upon Chavez Jr (44-0-1, 31KO), with only six weeks of preparation, before confronting WBC cruiserweight champion Wlodarczyk (46-2-1, 33KO), who stopped Green in 11 rounds in November."

The article is written based on what Mundine has said - it isn't the journalists job to sift through what he thinks is believable or not - he's not Mundine's press agent, he's a reporter. If Mundine speaks **** and the journo reports it, it's Mundine's fault for speaking ****.

Seems to be a lot of you here who crave censorship.

So your issue is with the journo himself and his knowledge of boxing, not with the statements Mundine made.

Then the Jurno should have just gave Mundine a pen & paper and let him write as much dribble as he liked then published it without any thought or being objective in any way shape or form?

If someone says they are going to put on a cape and fly to the moon in the next few days and have been training in their backyard with missions better than the ones planned by NASA, its upto the reporter to ask a few basic questions and be objective, you just dont write what your told and walk the fck away thinking yep thats it i got the full story now. :rofl

Its not like we havent heard the same sht from Mundine in the media before, USA USA, then blacklisted out of the blue lol, this will be i think the 3rd time he has stated in the media that he is going to fight in USA, the first two times were nothing but lies and imo he is just doing it again to keep the suckers in and milk some more cash before his game is over, the show is drawing to an end and he knows it. He isnt exciting to watch anymore, is fckn boring, good if you want to put people asleep watching TV but thats about it. He looks sick, weak and a former shell of the man he once was.

if y our saying the reporter hasnt a clue about boxing, id agree. WTF was he doing reporting on a sport he knows nothing about? May have well just sent Mundine a recording machine in the mail with pre paid postage reply then just published a transcript...

THE TRANSCRIPT OF MUNDINE DECEMBER 2012,. while they are at it, why not send the karnt a diary and they can put in a full special each month and his fans can bat off to his fantasys?

hope ur starting to get the picture. :good
