Some boxers have NOT been paid

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Big Dunk, Dec 20, 2011.

  1. Agreed.

The ''Class of 2008'' will be the forgotten generation of British fighters. In a year's time nobody will give a **** about any of them, all the focus will be on the 2012 lads.

It was probably the first time a group of lads were all paid big bucks to switch, and it's backfired on everybody, including them.

Hopefully lessons will be learned next time.

YouTube Joe G interview when Murray left him. He said Murray had not paid him because he hadn't be paid himself :-(

yeah Fwank has done well to **** this lot up. I know its not his fault that Saunders has been injured a lot, that Gavin is a headcase and Degale has absolutely zero likeability (sic). but even so... he should have been raking it in with these lot by now. they should have had 20 fights each, hopefully be unbeaten and be fighting big names.

still think that saunders is a nailed on certainty to be a ****ing huge star.

It was still said though, I think if anything FW probably told his fighters to keep quiet and that they would be payed when the subscription money comes in and pray that they get enough subscribers, It really does seem that BoxNation was the last throw at the dice?

It’s Frank’s fault that he had them tied to ridiculous terms like every fight needed to be on TV and they got a guaranteed minimum payment regardless of whether they sold tickets. Understandably their agents told them not to do off-TV fights or take reduced payments and without a Calzaghe or even a Khan to boost ticket sales he was ****ed.

You build prospects. You don’t start selling cards off their back unless it’s a Ray Leonard or a Oscar De La Hoya. They need time to build an audience, learn the trade and become complete fighters. At Frank got that much right with Khan.

We only knew about it cos Joe said so. Murray hasn't said a thing at all ever about money. If it wasn't for Joe I wouldn't have even had that clip I mentioned.

    Not to you, perhaps.

  9. I suppose the difference is that Leonard on his pro debut would have brutalised Colin Lynes, and De La Hoya would have beaten Anthony Crolla.

The game has changed so much that you can't rely on an Olympic pedigree to become a stand out pro any more.

What about Bunce and all the presenters.

Do you seriously think Richard Keys would present for no pay cheque?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, if some of the smaller boxers haven't been paid, it is probably a mixture of a few of them not being all that bright, being naive and intimidated of their promoter.

Different pots of money. I know they are effectively the same thing, but FWP and BoxNation are two different companies.

Well thats where he may be going wrong, Paying Keys salary because he's a name and linked with football fans and not paying the brave sods actually fighting in the ring, if there's even a shred of truth in this thread then its ****ing disgusting.

Bunce does have a reputation for working for companies that go out of business whilst he's still with them.
