Ok, so I read a couple of comments back...

if we assume Froch lost to Dirrell (wich I don't), Direll beat AA on a legit way (wich I also don't), then how does Froch qualify for a top spot above Bute in that thought pattern? :blood:huh
That would mean he beat AA easy (wich then all guys did), beat completely shot JT (who got the same treatment from AA) and beat old man Johnson.
He lost against the 3 (alledged) A class fighters.

Bute beat old man Johnson much easier, and beat a couple of (according to some) C level fighters by stopping or outclassing them (all easier and quicker as the other A classers did).

So explain why in this (in my opinion flawed) thoughtpattern Froch is a A class fighter and Bute isn't?!?

The real SMW top according to some ESB posters:

    1) Carl Froch. Why? He faced Ward, Taylor, Kessler, Pascal, Abraham, Dirrell. The guy is a warrior.
    2) Edison Miranda. Why? He faced Ward, Bute, Abraham, Pavlik, Green. The guy has heart.
    3) Arthur Abraham. Why? He faced Ward, Froch, Dirrell, Taylor, Miranda. The guy is very ambitious.
    4) Kenny Kost. Why? He faced both Ward and Dirrell, Hector Camacho Jr.. He has balls.

    etc.

I take it you'll give Bute his dues if he beats Froch, Jenna... won't you? Is Froch shot, or is he a healthy #2? :D

As for Dirrell, I think you're jumping the gun by about two weeks. Dirrell will be back in the top 10; the current issue is the last impression he made on people. Let him outclass Cunningham first so he makes some noise.

I don't know how long you've been following Bute for, but a few things he did in the last 5 years were up there in terms of accomplishments...

After taking a wide 9-3 decision over Bika and punching out big puncher Berrio in '07, as Ring #2 he took on Ring #3 Andrade. According to his trainer, fatigue kicked in at the end of the fight due to the late food poisoning issue Bute had before the fight. Andrade was still Ring #5 when Bute knocked him out. Miranda had given all hell to Abraham and Pavlik, a TKO3 isn't bad considering Miranda's heart & grit. Magee had some very close rounds with Froch when they fought (between R1 and R5 to be exact), and just like Johnson, he had trouble landing effectively on Bute.

I think Bute wins a clear UD over Froch if and when they fight, with 1 or 2 KD's in the mix. Bute will have no issue dodging Froch's slow haymakers when they do get thrown, and will use them to set up short hooks or uppercuts to the body. Carl will not land much more on Bute than he did on Ward. The rounds might be closer than in the Ward fight as Froch will most likely be the aggressor the whole fight, but Bute will be able to connect with a fairly high number of power punches as opportunities for counters come IMO. And Bute can pop. :D

    117-110 :bbb

...or some wild KO/stoppage at the end of the fight, going either way, 50/50. :deal

Sugar Ray Leonard did not go into a fight with Hagler with gym fitness alone.....Dirrell has been put through the paces to make sure his right.....I know this. So yes, the sparring has been more meaningful in level of comitation, then that exhibition we saw with Kessler back in May. Dirrell fights very soon, and I'm counting this into my ranking.........as for who he's fighting....guy was good enough that Pavik ducked him  He faced the best at the time.....and he did well with it.....which looks a lot better then anything on Bute's record even with the time off.

Bottom line....even if Andre Dirrell get's a headache.....his brother Anthony Dirrell can more then fill the void and I would actually favor him to beat Bute.......but that's a different topic for another day....fact is..... arguments can be made to rank Froch at #2 over Bute, and 1-4 can be switched around, and #5 is pretty wide open.

Neah... be serious. Is the level of opposition that matters. Who is he sparring with? If it's Joe Cal than we have a clear winner.
Ottke has the heart of a lion. That's why I'll put him at 5.

    :lol::rofl my ribs hurt

Direll biggest win was St-Juste and St-Juste hurt himself . When St-Juste was asked what he think about Anthony he said that he was fast but St-juste said that his fight was nothing to compare to the hell he got by sparring with Bute.

His last impression is dominating Abraham and getting fouled....the foul is not in doubt. What he does in less then 2 weeks will mean as much as Kessler did back in May.....that both have more to prove to say that they are really back....only reason Kessler is not #2 is time off with the eye injury.

As for Froch-Bute.....I think Bute wins.....but I don't rank based on who I believe beats who.....I rank on who they beat and how they beat them. I think it's so stupid when someone says "He's undefeated, so I rank him above so so for that reason" Records mean ****......it's who YOU fought. If Bute beats Froch he will earn a number 2 rank and it will be a great legit win......it don't change the fact that he got nearly KO'd by a Jack in a box worker, and beat up a old man with 2 bad elbows.
