When Eavnder Holyfeild met Mike Tyson..people where saying Evander Holyfeild was more on the decline..and he was going to be hurt badly. Evander Holyfeild was by no means in his prime..he was at the cross roads of his career. Evander Holyfield beats Mike Tyson anytime..anywhere..any place in history. "Mate believe match ups don't matter..because they are not real they never happened..you cannot give boxers credit for matches they never fought and won..it is a stupid thread and a stupid way of defining greatness..greatness is what actually happened..greatness is facts..greatness is history" Mike Tyson never beat "Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfeild, or Riddick Bowe" "80% of Mike Tyson legacy is built upon mate believe match ups/opinion and what he could of done..20% actually happened in history.
stylistically you make a good point and bowe would likely have those difficulties w/ wlad and holmes especially. my point is that he'd do better than holy against those guys, plus he beat holy 2/3 times so how does everybody get holy above bowe.
everybody's got their right to an opinion. Tysons' legacy is based upon what he did for about 4 years or so to b to bplus level guys, than its exagerated to an extent (about 20%) as every great's record is. No way do i think holy beats any version of tyson, but again you got your right to an opinion. IMO if holy's not on roids and other **** he probably even loses their first fight. Holy's recouperative powers and strength and pop were amazing in that fight and i'd argue that the prematurely balding jacked up cruiserweight was hitting the pharmacueticals back then. if holy cannot overcome bowe's power and infighting, holy cannot handle tyson with rooney and just after cus died.
Tyson was so messed up before the Douglas fight and didn't even train. I saw a documentary about him which said that he was up all night with call girls whilst in Tokyo and didn't bother to train for the fight. Also, didn't Tyson still put Douglas on the canvas to a count of 13?? In any event, the way Tyson was going, if it wasn't Douglas it would've been someone else. It was under no circumstances a prime Tyson that fought Douglas.
Tyson-Holyfield-Lewis-Bowe-Holmes Wlad This is actually really difficult, because in a prime vs prime, these guys are all pretty equal. Holyfield and Bowe both had some awesome displays, Tyson had some ferocious Ko's and Lewis and Holmes were dominantly superb in their primes. Tyson could maybe edge ahead in a prime vs prime sense, but its difficult as he never beat a truly great heavweight in his prime. Bowe and Holyfield gave great performances against each other, and Lewis and Holmes are up there for obvious reasons. Wlad, obviously is bottom of the list. They are easy to rank on an accomplishments and resume basis, but prime vs prime, I feel my top 5 are very close.
At their very peak best....this is how my list would fall 1. Larry Holmes 2. Mike Tyson 3. Evander Holyfield 4. Lennox Lewis 5. Riddick Bowe 6. Wladimir Klitschko
