THREE-time world champion Jeff Fenech has lashed out as his former student Danny Green, claiming he won’t retire until he has “milked” more money out of his fans.

While Fenech prepares to help relaunch the career of Green's arch nemesis Anthony Mundine in the United States, the boxing legend said Australia could still witness Mundine vs Green II - should the WA fighter manage to string a couple of victories together.

But Fenech said he was sure Green would not retire - because he was too money hungry to retire.

Following his latest loss to WBC Cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Włodarczyk last month, speculation on whether the former Olympian will retire has been rife throughout the boxing world.

The loss was his second consecutive defeat, the previous coming from an Antonio Tarver knockout which saw Green drop the IBO Cruiserweight title in July.

Since his latest loss, the ‘Marrickville Mauler’ has called for Green to hang up the gloves for a second and final time since his short stint in retirement spanning just over 12 months between 2008-2009.

While Green spends the remainder of 2011 pondering his future, Fenech is unconvinced Green is seriously contemplating retirement when he can still command big money fights.

“To be honest I don’t really care what Danny green does,” Fenech told SEN Radio.

“He’s been stopped by who he says is the best cruiserweight in the world which he’s far from that if the guys who just beat him is the best I don’t know what that says about Antonio Tarver, it makes him god or something very special.

“Danny is very far from retiring; he can still make money easily.
“He’s got a great fan base here in Australia, especially in Perth and he’ll continue to milk money off his fans.

“If I was Danny Green’s trainer I would tell him you’ve got what you’ve wanted. You wanted one unit in Perth - he owns half of Perth now,” Fenech said.

“So maybe it’s time for him to retire.”

When quizzed on about his attack on the 38-year-old, Fenech defended his actions as retribution for all the times Green spoke about him behind his back.

“The story about me and Danny Green will one day come out," Fenech said.
“I can’t wait til the truth comes out about why Danny Green and I split and it was nothing to do about money it was just about being loyal and loyalty and that is the main thing I have tried to put in my life.”

Fenech was in Green’s camp the first time the two faced off in a unanimous points decision to Mundine in 2006.

“You never know if he does a few things off a couple of fights there might be an Anthony Mundine-Danny green fight two,” he said.

“I can honestly say Danny Green can’t handle speed and good boxing. He proved that against Anthony in the first fight and he proved it against Antonio Tarver.”

    LMFAO.

Green is only in it to milk money from his fans but hey...my new boy anthony mundine might fight him again. Jeff just needs anthonys blessing to negotiate on his behalf.

    POT KETTLE BLACK.

So much wrong with that article. What a joke.

I'm not in love with Green either, but after the Briggs debacle I think he has redeemed himself with his last couple of shows. While he has been beaten, thats what happens when you fight quality opponents and he has got a lot more respect from me in his loses than he did with a lot of his wins.

He is fighting true top 10 guys and putting it all on the line. Good luck to Green.

The guy (Green) puts his balls on the line and risks his money and life to put a show on and entertain those that want to pay and watch, why bag him? How hard is it to comprehend, Ty, you ****ing little grub, that boxing, whilst being a sport, is also entertainment for bloodthirsty fans, if you don't like some one in the game then don't watch them, but also refrain from bagging them. The fact that they risk their well being to entertain us, and with the likes of Green and Mundine also their own money, perhaps they don't really deserve the ridicule that low life ****wits like you level at them.
I hope yoyu choke to death on your Christmas lunch and then are revived by paramedics only to have significant brain damage due to your brain being starved of oxygen.

Fenech needs to have a look into his own history before passing jugdement on Green. The Fenech V Nelson III was nothing more than a glorified sparring session between two ageing warriors who both needed a payday while sucking dry punters at $40-50 bucks a pop on PPV. I must agree with him that Green needs to give it away though, he was was ****ed before being dropped in his last fight.

Yes Fenech abandoned Danny after his 2nd loss to Beyer to
hook up with Tyson. Salas was Danny's trainer.

yeah ..you cant fault the quality of his opponents. the briggs thing was a gift to a sick ex fighter, that went wrong. i'll forgive him for that cause i believe his heart was in the right place.

but fenech is a ****en grub, like someone above mentioned. great fighter, dead**** bloke....
