I heard this as well, Fight Network itself had about a months programming on repeat for its lifetime here in the UK, probably why it failed. I think a "fight" network would have been much better and have a wider audience than a boxing one. If they had all the boxing they have now, and threw money at UFC, DREAM, K1 etc., they'd have far more appeal. Throw in some dirt cheap kickboxing cards and your laughing. It would potentially alienate some boxing fans, but it would attract a lot more than it lost, and its schedule wouldnt look embarassingly empty.
LOL get off your ****ing high horse! Of course I was concerned about the fight hence why i can't remember the presenters! Plus the whole viewing experience is influenced by the channel and the presenters / commentators, we all know that. Just take one look at HBO and Sky for that. I think you are just being an arse whilst avoiding my question. Did you have tickets for Mayweather - Ortiz!?
I disagree. Khan became the biggest name boxer in Britain beating u average level domestic competition. The dierence was he had Khan in the public eye on ITV primetime. Degale and co arent in the public eye fighting on the undercard o some obscure British title fight on SkySports 2 on a Saturday night. As such they never got the public's imagination. Amir Khan was bigger fighting Willie Limond for sod all then he is now, in the UK
I agree with most of this. There are a substantial amount of MMA people who dont like boxing and a substantial amount for whom having both on a channel might be a tipping point to get it. I dont think it would alienate boxing fans. There's enough airspace for both.
Problem with mixing MMA & Boxing is that the major events are on at the same time. If you had a contract with UFC and with Top Rank for example, what event do you pick to show live?
That's a good point, your always going **** off one or the other set of fans, promoters, etc, Frank should never have pissed off Sky, he maybe could have left the door open so that some cards could have been shown on there still if it clashed with a few MMA cards?
I reckon adding MMA to the listings would have really helped them, it's showtime, dream, K-1, Bellator, Strikeforce, Bamma etc Obv if they bagged UFC they would get a huge amount of subscriptions, but I doubt this would ever happen. Maybe an interactive button to choose between cards like the BBC does. Don't know if this would be feasible though! Repeat them in the morning so everyone is happy!
Not a lot of Christmas cheer here. I quit Boxrec because the ***** that is the so-called editor bragged that he would not be taking out a subscription. That's wrong, punters have a choice but editors of boxing websites do not have a choice. Simple. He also, when he was pissed and brave, said some nasty things about me. See you all in the new year. Adios.
Love how not one comment on the main issue in this thread, silence is golden.......All though i understand why not.:deal
Jesus Christ almighty. There was no bragging involved whatsoever. Someone started a thread asking who would be subscribing to the channel. The only response given, literally, was 'no'. Nothing else. Editors have a choice on what line to personally take, same as anyone else. Funnily enough, the site has covered and indeed previewed shows which have taken place on the channel, FFS. As for the 'pissed and brave' line, that's a complete load of shite, I'll tell you that now. I can't remember the last time I got pissed in any boxing company for a start. I'm always working and/or driving. I think someone's pulling your chain.
He's a punter just like everybody else, and is entitled to answer the question that was asked. Whether he went OTT or not is open to debate (I don't believe he did).
