The main problem with the sport today is the best won't fight the best because there is a Fisk there 0 will go, I put it to you that if mayweather had nt been chatting so much **** about never being beaten like it makes him some sort of demi god then an undefeated record might not have such importance does anyone agree with me?

IMHO Floyd is the type who'll be fighting into 40's taking fights he wouldn't have taken in his prime. Leaving all of us frustrated.

    Agreed OP.

Bring back the time when fighters were fighters, and all that they cared about was being THE BEST and NOT being undefeated.

  7. Gotta love the fact that some people think that the best always thought the best.

    When was this boxing utopia?

Things are just the same as they always have, and always will, be. Get used to it.

There's a huge problem with how the game has been marketed over the last decade, 20 years or so, and for that I think one has to look mainly at the promoters. Phony 'world champions' and the whole undefeated nonsense had played a huge part in sucking the life blood out of the game.

No they are not, there didn't used to be 4 'world champions' in each and every one of a hundred different weight divisions.

The unbeaten thing is bollocks but it seems to mean a lot these days especially to US fighters.A defeat is not the end of the world many fighters have proved it,even a KO or stoppage loss is by no means a career ending thing.Look at Lewis,Holyfield,Tyson,Khan,Jackson to name but a few who went on to regain or win titles. The TV people love the 0 thing and it has built and built over the last 20 years or so.

  12. There was only really 30-40 years of 1 Champion. Since then, albeit to various degrees of respectibility, there have been more. (For example, the BBBoC on occassions recognised "World Champions" that the NBC hadn't or vise-versa).

Yep this is pretty much spot on, I really don't care if a fighters unbeaten, lets go back 10 years or so and take Arturo Gatti for instance, who could honestly say that they wouldn't watch him fight because he lost a few??!??
