Simpson Moving Down to SBW

    Heard that John is going to move down in weight to SBW, was a bit suprised as i thought the Selby fight would have been his last!

    Could be a good move for him if he can make the weight ok and doesn't drain him too much as some excellent match ups there with Quigg & Frampton.

    Imo he looked pretty drained against Selby and can't see the benifit of moving down.

    Hopefully a good move .Well worth a shot .Munroe at bantamweight now as well tae .He was huge for a superbantamweight man

    Simpson is a good fight for both Frampton & Quigg.

    I think its a shame his career was never managed correctly as he could have been European champion no problem.

    He looked small compared to Selby, if he can do the weight OK (a big if) then he can still be competitive there.

    Don't write him off he was mixing well with Selby, one shot finished a very competitive fight he prob would have won

    I'd have to disagree.

    Selby was reading Simpson's movement and work well, and the one shot that finished was well maneuvered and ended the fight because Simpson had been hurt to the body in one of the previous rounds.

    I think I gave Simpson 1 round at the point of the finish.

    I agree with the point about not writing Simpson off though, maybe SBW will be a knew lease of life?

    It was competitive but Selby was pulling away on my card, John was making Lee fight and doing better then Smith but you could see John struggling with strength of Selby. I think round one there's a bit of holding and Lee pushes him back onto ropes with ease (No Khan).

    I have enjoyed watching Simpson since he was an amateur but i believe that he could be reaching the stage where his best days are behind him. I know he is relatively young but he has been in wars his whole career, against Smith twice, Martin Lindsay, Paul Appleby , Andy Morris and Steven Foster to name a few.I think this would be a good time for him to evaluate if he has a future in boxing. Moving down to SBW and fighting Quigg and Frampton will be another 2 wars and by taking the extra weight off i can't see him beating either as they will be too fresh for him at this stage of Johns career. I don't want to see him ending his career hurt.
