Nah, Ward is too much of a technician for Calzaghe. His skills would have sorely exposed Calzaghe's many technical deficiencies. Ward by very comfortable UD, a complete outclassing from start to finish. Guys (in their physical primes) with great defences, inside games and handspeed would be far too much for a volume-puncher with no defence like Joe C.

Joe would have too much power for anyone in boxing history. He would have moved up and picked a belt up at cruiser or heavy but he didn't want to embarrass the guys in the division.

The fight wouldn't have happened because Joe would demand he's the paper champion and it's supposed to be in England. Joe would only travel if Ward was 39+ years old. That means you guys would be lucky to see Calzaghe vs Manfredo II instead.

I agree with the guy who said Calzaghe is a better fighter than his resume makes out as stupid as that sounds. Only morons would place being undefeated over having fought against the best regularly. 46-0 means nothing to true boxing fans a even Carl Froch has had better fights at 168 than Joe.

Joe must be the most over rated and under rated fighter ever. Some fans who see his 46-0 record on boxrec and assume that he must be the best fighter to grace earth since Marciano. I know how this feels because this is how i felt about boxers when i was about 9 years old. I used to argue that J C Chavez must have been the best ever at his 99-0 stage. thats ridiculous.

His record is one of the most padded in history, the guy had numerous defences of his wbo title under his belt and was still ranked behind guys like Naz, Lewis and then even Hatton. I can understand the view that he is one of the most over rated fighters ever. His defences were Chavez Jnr bad.

:rofl:lol: That's hilarious. If he'd fought in the States all his life you could cut that KO% by half.

right now I gotta say I think Calzghe would beat Ward, but let us see. Ward is just starting to show us what he is all about.

I agree with Joe Calzaghe ... Joe Calzaghe isn't easily discouraged and he's not so quick to quit. He makes adjustments throughout the fight and more than likely would've lured Ward into a brawl and possibly stopped Ward.

This is all absolute madness. Calzaghe in his prime was fighting gas attendants, refusing to leave his little cocoon of protection. His K.O. percentage, taking away the huge amount of early stoppages on his record is in the 20's.

Let's put it this way, the question isn't if Joe was active could he beat Andre Ward?, the question is, if they were both active, would Joe even fight Andre Ward?

Joe's past points to the answer being "no".
