This. I'd slot him in at 2 just behind mayweather. We know he will KO him but the fight needs to be sellable.

I don't particularly mind if you have Donaire ahead of Martinez, but it seems quite odd to do so on the basis of that argument now. Martinez has knocked out his last three opponents; Donaire just failed to knock out a guy he had at least 15 pounds on.

 

Great point. Donaire hasn't beaten a top p4p fighter like Martinez did with Williams either.

 

Well I wouldn't go that far either. Montiel was considered at least a top 10 fighter when Donaire beat him this year (though I wasn't as impressed with his victory over Hasegawa as many) , and Vic was as well (even though it was ages ago).

 

This is where you are wrong. Unlike Sergio, Donaire has 2 wins against top P4P fighters in KO 5 Darchinyan and TKO 2 Montiel.



Narvaez, Sidorenko, Mthalane, and H. Marquez are much better 3-6 best wins for Donaire than Sergio's 3-6 best wins of: Dzinziruk, Cintron, Barker, and Roman.

 

The ring has ALWAYS been over fascinated with the heavyweight division.

Look how many times a heavyweight wins their fighter of the year award.

My point still stands. What pound for pound fighters have either of the Klit beat?

Over the past 13 years, James Toney in his year of half cruiserweight + half heavyweight is the only heavyweight to win the award.

And are you saying one must beat a top 10 guy to become one? What happens with crazy upsets, does the winner automatically get in even if that was their debut? Your logic is pretty weak.
Which P4P top 10 guy did Wonjongkam beat?
Which P4P top 10 guy did Cotto beat to ever get on the list in his career?
Lennox Lewis is the last HW to make the Ring P4P list. He made it at #8 in 2000.

 

If you had to beat P4P fighters to get in there, there wouldn't be any P4P lists in the 1st place

I specifically mentioned that they don't dominate their division either.

If you are not the proven dominant fighter in your division (Wonjonkam, Lewis) or you haven't won titles in several divisions, or you haven't beaten other P4P contenders, you shouldn't be ranked.

If Wlad ever fights Vitali, I would put the WINNER in the top ten. Until then, they have done NOTHING to deserve their ranking.

Next time read and comprehend entire post before challenging. It svaes time and ill informed responses.

BTW almost 50% of the rings fighter of the year awards have gone to heavyweights. The fact that a heavyweight hasn't won one recently is more an indication of how shiity the division is as opposed to their overwhelming bias for heavyweights

Floyd Mayweather changed to # 4 or 5, (Win over Ortiz = #1 p4p in the world??? I don't think so either. )

Manny Pacquaio changed to #2 (Lost to Marquez a fighter coming from lightweight)

Juan Manuel Marquez changed to # 1 (Beat the former #1, 2 divisions up from his own)


those 3 are the main ones, and it's pretty obvious.

Must have missed Hernan Marquez, didn't see him, can you tell where you have him, should be at least top 30. Over all, Terrible list and not on the Morales way.

Donaire over Martinez is not bad either. But May over Donaire, Marquez, and Pac is too much, hard to believe people have him in their top 3 let alone as the #1.

Past that it's quite subjective who you'd pick but yours seems good.
