You keep telling me Bute fought no-one. I don't agree. I say Bute didn't fought the "elite" which is a class of fighters that in a division holds only 1 or 2 names. The SMW division being one of the best ever, it probably holds 4 that you can nominate in that class, some enter "this class" while they were locked in a tournament. The discovery of Ward skills happens in the Super six tournament, he's been found as an elite fighter in that tournament, before being considerate only a prospect.

    Elite Fighters:
    Ward
    Kessler
    Froch
    Bute
    -----------------
    Dirrell
    -----------------
    Good Fighters:
    Johnson
    Bika
    Andrade (prime)
    Stieglitz
    Abraham (SMW version)
    Taylor (SMW version)
    Alejandro Berrio (Champion version)
    -------------------
    Pavlik
    -------------------
    Prospects&Decent Fighters:
    Thomas Oosthuizen
    Dimitri Sartison
    Edwin Rodriguez
    Brian Magee
    Anthony Dirrell
    George Groves
    James Degale
    Ezequiel Maderna
    etc

You say that Bute has fought no one because he didn't faced the best?
You can only blame Bute for not fighting Kessler when Lucian was a young champion. But you seem to be okey now with the path that Ward takes, a easy first defense of his new title(WBC) against an easier opponent.
Bute and Froch got really close to sign a deal for a fight in Nottingham before Carl got the invitation into a ground-braking tournament, Super six.
Ward was a prospect, him and Dirrell. Abraham was a MW, Pavlik also tho because of his size and status at the weight was suppose to fight Bute if they both would won the HBO double-header Bute-Miranda/Pavlik-Martinez. That was a clash between what was then #1 ranked fighters from SMW&MW divisions.

There are ******s that are blaming Bute for not fighting Martinez and Golovkin.
1 Martinez has said repeatedly his to small for SMW
2 Golovkin presents no interest for almost no1 for a fight with Bute and he walks around at 161. Most JMW's are bigger than him.

Is it hype and "names" that you meant... Like Taylor, Abraham and Miranda that where once considerated "Best Middleweights" ?

Bute was touted as the next big thing even before the tornament started. He could've fought Froch, Ward, Abraham, Dirrell, and Kessler before the tournament even started. The best guy he's fought is Andrade. All of the guys listed can say they've fought better oppostion than Bute. Even Allan Green can say he fought better competition than Bute.

Even Augustus could say that, so would Bika, so would Glen Johnson, what's your point?

IMO AA isn't even a good fighter at SMW.

For Bute to face a A fighter someone will have to give the opportunity and accept or offer him a fight!

1.If Froch would've not been in the tournament he'd still be undefeated.

2.If Abraham had not been in the tournament, he'd still be undefeated and people would be talking about Abraham vs Ward right now and that he would beat Froch, Ward, and Bute without never proving how limited he is.

    3. If Ward had not been in the tournament, he would be looked at as a protected prospect.

    4. If Dirrell had not been in the tournament, he would still be an undefeated prospect.

    5. If Kessler had not been in the tournament, he still would be favored to beat the winner who would end up to be Andre Ward who actually DID beat him first in the tournament.

You get my drift. The tournament exposed and revealed alot and had Bute been in the tournament, I bet he would not be undefeated right now. And whoever would've been left out in would be looked at exactly the same way Bute is looked at now.

That's why it's a shame he wasn't invited and that we will never know this, every conversation about this is just speculation.

Imagine they set up a heavyweight Super 6 tournament and they invite Povetkin, Fury, Helenius, Chisora, Ustinov and Seth Mitchell.
They beat up each other for a while, claiming to fight the best and then the winner says Wladimir Klitschko has to prove himself before he earns the right to face him.
All SMW Super6 fans are just as deluded.

Klitschko is a the ring heavyweight champion and probably the lineal champion. Bute is not. Bute hasn't beat the necessary opponents to claim he's the number 1 guy no question at 168. Wlad is the number one heavyweight and that's without dispute. Now it would be different if the heavy's held a tournament after Lewis retirement and Wladmire wasn't invited but he's proven. Bute is not.
