1st off...Vitali is not vacating any time soon. Chisora is on and that is not going to be his last fight from anything I've heard...unless he is injured or some crap. I don't have a problem with Arreola being #1 really. He is not undeserving though it would be nice if he had to fight another top guy for it. But he has already been down the Vitali road. He hasn't done the extreme things to sell that rematch. But against Wlad, people have more doubt about his chin and want to see Chris style go after him. People will buy that and HBO probably likes that idea. They would probably do a rematch too but its not as big. He'd get a Vit rematch with a Wlad win anyways. Then a rematch with Wlad. LOL Jose is in either way. All I'm saying is that being #1 will give him more bargaining power to see the bigger fight happen. That almost has to be Wlad's fight in the summer. Fury is about the only guy that could put on a more anticipated fight but he is too raw and that fight should wait some more IMO. He needs a USA fight man. I wish he would have canceled Mormeck and moved on to this 1 already. I'll watch Mormeck fight him but that fight sucks balls man. A fitter version of Arreola chasing after him would be much more entertaining. Mormeck is going to taken apart though I hope he can cause some excitement at some point. I just don't see it being all that much excitement or any real debate about what will happen going in.
I'll have to believe it when I see it. Too many guys have been pumping up the WBC to see Wladimir come in and snake a vacant belt. That is bad business. Now Chef. I believe K2 would try it though. After seeing how they have handled their Championship line up of contenders, I won't even go into my whole rant on ruining the incentive of the division, nothing would surprise me from K2. They are cost cutters all the way. They lack the entrepreneurial spirit to really mastermind their time at the top. With an era with such great odds stacked in their favor, they needed to put bigger wagers on their journey. As is, their biggest fight was a fight in which they were manipulated by the lesser man into providing an absolute dud for the fans. They tried to penny pinch that thing at nothing as well. They owe Haye everything he got for having tons of entrepreneurial spirit. These guys could have controlled the division like robots and put on slates of fights that rivaled Don Kings old stacked cards. PPV dollars instead of TV refusals. Still, I will believe it when I see it. I will be pissed if it happens. And complaining. LOL
i wish Arreola would stop being referred to as an American Heavy. He is not american. He merely moved here, just as Maskaev did. But noone was calling Maskaev an American Heavy.
Good Lord! Everyone is an expert in hindsight. K2 has earned their two flagship fighters a great deal of income while promoting them more than adequately on a global basis. Your hypothesis on how to manage their careers, although grounded in knowledge, is simply an idealistic laboratoryesque senario that has next to impossible real world applications. Not everyone has/had the resources of a Don King, in keeping with your example.
I'm not an expert...I'm a hobbiest. It doesn't take a rocket scientist though to determine that picking the lowest and unranked challengers to take as opponents before they proved themselves would lead to what has happened. HW Stagnation. They not only set bad precedent in opponent selection, they continued to uphold it and reset it. Time and again, guys got shots for doing nothing and that has trickled down to the whole division. There is no incentive to fight man. But, if they had demanded that all their voluntaries be legit and the most deserving, only coming off of good wins, the division would have been on fire to produce them more challengers with more hype and time to build the others. Sitters, quitters and bullshitters are getting in man. Some of the contests wer appauling. But, the problem with that is that you would have had to pay the initial guys that were the most legit, the most legit dollars. Instead of the least legit, the least legit dollars. K2 is a double edged sword man. Knifing the division both in cash and in class.
When they lined up Chisora for the 1st time Chauncy was chatting online saying he would fight Wlad for 1 dollar. I am surprised K2 didn't make it happen.
Arreola should go Tyson-esque and challenge all of the top 10 contenders. Arreola vs Boytsov? Tyson Fury? Welliver?
You need to get back to reality, Welliver is a joke and won't ever fight for a world title, vacant or otherwise.
K2 doesn't do business on internet chat forum. Welliver needs to get a real promotion team and ditch the garage band. No TV network outside NZ is going to buy a K2/Welliver fight. Never gonna happen.
Arreola is the best American heavyweight. Where is has Chambers been? How about Chambers vs. Mitchel?
