Was it really the end of the world on the Brit Forum in 2011?

The way you guys carry on sometimes you'd have thought it was, here's a tentative year end review: I know year end polls take care of this function but, at the risk of seeming arrogant, here's an outsider's perspective on some events from the past year, mainly observations relating to the Forum.


- There was an Epic Thread involving a charming young man called Ryan Lockwood. Phoning him from the public phonebooth at the end of my road killed time during an unemployed spell but may have contributed to killing the ruse.


- What sets East Side apart is the fact that the Boxers who post here are some of the safest people in the world: - stand up Tony Bellew (hon. mention to Nathan Cleverly who I used to think was a twat but turned out to be class. That costume + entrance music against Bellew was practically inexcusable. Needless to say; he excused himself).

- SlipandCounter put up the post of the year with his analysis of the degradation of inside fighting. If you want more of the same i'd suggest reading 'The Arc Of Boxing' by Mike Silver. It's a little over zealous in it's arguments at times, but more than worth a read.

- Thankfully the terms '*******' or '*****' didn't gain currency on this side of the forum. You should be shot on sight for uttering either of those words.


- Bunce set the record straight......again. And again for good measure.

- Gaz OC chipped in with some good advice (advised me well when I acted like a total ****). I swear this guy is a cyberspace saint.

- Flea Man got grouchy but can still supply some good detail on obscure fighters (who the **** is 'Canto'? Maybe i'll get there some day beyond the RJJ - Leonard matchups (or Homan Williams Vs ahh ****... you got me). Some of the discussions on the Classic Forum genuinely send chills, but not usually from Flea Man, who's often too bitter/stoned to elaborate . Grace the forum with your ice for another year Flea Man (No Homo).

- Gary Barlow bowled in to supply us with some sorely needed comedy moments (that avatar will always be gold) however the best moment was supplied by someone stating: 'Gary Barlow needs help, that one and the real one'. Well that or Ricky Burns' trainer telling him to '**** Off'.

- 'Relentless' actually has a brain..........maybe............ but still spends his life on the forum. Over 40,000 posts can't be healthy.


- I heard on here at some point that G - Man would beat Froch, Collins would beat Froch and G-Man would beat them both. That sounded about right to me.

- Livra appeared to mellow with age.

- Almost finally, I didn't think this thred got enough attention: Mick from Fitzroy Lodge passed away in 2011, a person who meets my definition of someone who 'had it'. He was an artist. He dedicated his life to something that he loved without any requirement of, or motivation towards, recognition. That's living in a way that most people wouldn't dare.

Happy Crimbo Brit forum, it's been fun reading your ****. Thankyou for putting up with my pissed ramblings.

 

Yeah date went well. Held it together and it wasn't until late on that she noticed I was battered. Did end up puking in her toiletatsch Still seeing her though so happy days so far!

 

Yeah, I'm kind of regretting staying up all night seeing as I havn't finished christmas shopping.
