Yeah it's all fights that have some bearing on this weekend. But they've all taken part in the last year or so, just shows what a year it's been really.

I will check out that fight you mentioned though I haven't seen it. Cheers :good

Martin Murray v Nick Blackwell - Decent domestic scrap. Murray was clearly a level above and looked solid throughout.

Felix Sturm v Matthew Macklin - Again scored it 115-113 to Macklin. Good fight, and Sturm impressed me more than on first viewing.

Alexander Povetkin v Ruslan Chagaev - Povetkin won on handspeed but it wasn't a great fight for what is a **** take of a title, with Boswell as an even bigger **** take first challenger.

LIVE - Felix Sturm v Martin Murray - Wasn't a great fight. Got better as it went on. I scored it 116-113 to Sturm. Not too surprised by draw because a few rounds could've gone either way. Laughed at Sky crying robbery.

Pawel Wolak v Delvin Rodriguez - Best fight I've seen this year. I scored it even. Really looking forward to rematch tomorrow :D

Watched Holyfield vs Pinklon Thomas for the 1st time. Holy's 2nd fight at heavy against a well respected former champ. A brutal, one sided ass kicking by Holy. Thomas looked finished in the 3rd but survived until the end of the 7th.

Then I rewatched his next fight, Holy vs Dokes, one of the best ever HW fights imo.

Jorge Arce v Hussein Hussein - Such a fun fight to watch (which Arce fight ain't) but I love this one in particular. Arce's most exciting fight? I don't know as thats a bit of an impossible task but when you can tell 5 seconds in that the fights gonna be excellent than you know it's going to be a good'un.

An absolute phone booth war with 2 guys right on top of their game. Uppercuts and hooks galore with some vicious body attacks and not a jab in sight :yep Hussein does well throughout the fight and matches him in most of the exchanges but Arce just had that bit more power and could ship just a little more punishment then Hussein. Arce gets a savage cut on his nose around the 6th but being Arce it just pushes him further into mental warrior mode.

You can see Hussein begin to noticebly fade from early as the 5th or 6th but he continued to power through and give Arce just the type of fight he wanted, the left hook to Husseins body from Arce really sapped his energy as the fight progressed.

Husseins trainer saves him in the 10th after Arce put a pummeling on him in the corner, he could have probably continued but Arce was right on top and not close to slowing down. Probably the right thing to do.

    Super scrap :thumbsup

Chris Pyatt v Gianfranco Rosi - Not a bad fight at all. This was the first winning effort I had seen of Rosi as I had been avoiding him like the plague after seeing his efforts against Curry and Honeyghan.

High paced start from both with some decent action in the first 4 rounds, Rosi stunned Pyatt in the 2nd and windmilled away trying to get him out of there but failed.. Looked like it was settling down with Rosi getting in the groove but a lovely leaping left-hook (reminded me of Bellew-McKenzie I KD) put Rosi on his arse, he recovered very well though, showed good recovery and nous to keep himself out of trouble and Pyatt failed to take advantage. Seemed to put Rosi is safety mode a bit after and he was successful in outboxing Pyatt without taking any risks through the next 4 rounds. Heated up in the last 2 with some good trading between the 2 but it was too late for Pyatt.

Bit of a disappointing from Pyatt really, lacked ideas and didn't put much thought into his boxing, instead trying to outwork his man which wasn't the best way to go about beating the awkward Rosi. Surprising as well that apart from the shot that put Rosi down it was Pyatt who was stunned the greater number of times against the light punching Italian. Change of heart from me regarding the Italian, he was obviously a capable fighter and worth checking into more. Well worth the watch :good

    I had it 115-112 Rosi (8-4). Judges had it 118-114, 115-113, 118-112.

Anyone else seen this? Would be interested in seeing some scores.

Been watching Antonio Esparragoza today, he's never really shined on me before, but I'm really digging him now.

He's such a patient and confident ring general, takes his time to get started and dosent waste a thing. The way he moves through the gears is brilliant, he starts of with the long jabs, then all of a sudden he's sliding in off lead rights and left hooks, and the thing is everything is a combination. And his combinations, ever shot is solid and thrown perfectly, you dont see that much.

But the thing I love mot about him, he is just so sure he will win, all the time.

His fight with Jose Marmolejo, stood out for me so I'll expand on it.

Marmolejo is a tall Panamanian, he shows good lateral movement and instinctive counters, as you expect from a Panamanian, but lacks polish and to me experiance.

Marmolejo starts out brilliantly moving laterally to keep Tonmy Asparagus from starting any attacks, and when he does he generally falls short and walks on to lovely short right hands. Jose does this for the first 3 rounds, although in the second I thought Essparagoza edged it with workrate.

In the fourth Esparragoza makes a concerted effort to keep the pressure on the tall awkward Marmelejo. He does this with a few things:
-Feints, he feints his movements forward and then attacks an off-balance Marmelejo.
-A Double Step, instead of stepping in with his shots, Antonio steps forward whilst being defensivly aware, then steps in again with his punches, meaning he is getting his range without punching, and keeping the pressure on without opening himself up.
-Combinations, he just keeps punching at times, but more importantly , he is falling in after shots to keep Marmalejo in range. And Antonio's defensive radar in the pocket is superb, I loved the way he would throw his right then dip to his left to avoid any retaliatery shots.

A sustained barrage of punches knocks Jose off-balance and he goes down. Antonio does a back flip in the middle of the ring. But Jose is back up and fights back, however he is in survival mode. He circles without doing much in return, by way of counters, and when he does throw he leads then stands in front of Esparragoza, rather than countering then moving off.

Esparragoza really starts to take over, and has him down in the fifth, and dominates the sixth and seventh (the seventh I scored 10-8, as Esparragoza just poured forward with non-stop combinations), however every now and then Tony walks onto that counter right, and finally in the ninth a sharp right cross catches Marmeljo who falls into a clinch, but then falls to the canvas and is counted out.

    Really interesting fight IMO.

Watching early sugar ray leonard fights today, the Ranzany (top10 ranked contender) fight starts off fairly close for the 1st few rounds but after landing a big right hand its a sustained & brutal finish.

It's Christmas eve morning I've done my shopping, it's snowing sideways outside ..... I'm staying in and having a 'Fiesta de Martin Castillo' ( I only have about 5 fights but I'm watching them all).
Then I'm gonna draw on a Zoro style moustache & beard, get on the angle bag in the cellar and pretend that I'm small, fast, slick and stylish with a great down and up body head attack.
    Love that little fella:good

No, afraid not. Anyway, that's a different Castillo isn't it.
Not that I wouldn't want to see it - the little guys are invariably value for money.
    Why, do you?
    Recomended????

I was talking specifically about a 'Martin C' day.
    v
    Morel
    Ishihara
    Machado
    Nashiro
and Munoz II if I can find what I've done with it.

Winning and losing - still good viewing.:good
