Not sure about all that, but I suspect Gary has some involvement IN George Michaels recent illness.

Says page not found. I think its cos your link contains his name, I advise anyone else to google insolvency news frank ******.

Yes Insolvency news was something I was thinking of reading regularly in 2012

    Heres what the article says;

Frank ****** Promotions Limited agreed to pay HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for an undisclosed sum after the tax office proposed winding up the business on 28 November 2011.
It is the second time this year that HMRC has issued a winding up petition against the internationally renowned promoter.
However, Insolvency News has today learnt that an official appeal has been lodged to be examined by the Courts and Tribunals Service.
In a statement issued exclusively to Insolvency News, the company stated that this had absolutely nothing to do with Frank ****** personally:
"Payment has been made to HMRC but there is an outstanding issue that HMRC are no longer involved with.
"A formal application has been made to the First Tier Tribunal (tax) which is part of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service to hear the case.
"There are certainly no concerns with the stability of the business. We expect the petition to be dismissed later this week”

I have been reading this thread, and have been really surprised and shocked on what I have read. I wanted to ask you guys is there a Trade Union for Boxers that acts kind of in the same way as Footballs PFA, that could stop many young fighters getting ripped off. From what I have read I think this is a must, these guys put their lives on the line and they must be given assurances from whoever that they get paid, regardless on how many tickets they sell or anything like that. I am a fight fan, and a Trade Unionist and ultimately like you and me these guys have bills to pay as well.

    What do you think?

There is no union of any sort, so it would be down to the individual boxers themselves, or the Board to sort out.

The problem comes as few will have the balls to step up and do anything about it. Said promoters' fondness for taking people and organisations to court means they **** themselves-and **** he's an intimidating bloke.

The Board won't do anything about it and will grant him a new license with the other family company because it isn't worth the hassle of taking him to task-AND most importantly this promoter must surely bring in loads for them with the shows he runs, so they would be spiting themselves to stop him promoting.

Sickening situation. What is so bad about it is that he won't be punished for this and in a few months everything will carry on as usual.

    Allegedly. :D

  11. It's a disgrace really that there isn't a professional boxer's association that works with the board to promote and protect the interests of it's members.

Of course promoters are agents (in kind) of the board too, so there'd be a conflict of interest.

I'm sure it wouldn't take much for a collective bargaining agreement between a group of fighters.

The problem is that boxers aren't teams, one example I'm familiar with is the Australian Cricketer's Association, where the executive board consisted of an appointed chief, three current international players, two domestic level players and a couple of recently retired internationals..... could you really imagine a situation where (say) Hatton and Witter joined forces to promote a common cause?

It would be worth looking at people such as Carl Froch, Nathan Cleverly, Tony Bellew and and George Groves trying to form something, with the likes of Johnny Greaves, Jeff Thomas and other guys at the lower end that have the best interests of the sport at heart.

Currently it's a divide and conquer situation, fighters could raise any number of issues similar to the ones that we raise on a regular basis, and **** all happens. They'll be reprimanded, frozen out of the title picture and either have to leave for pastures new or get a day job.

Boxing is notoriously fragmented. That will not change because as soon as it is connected and there is transparency, the bog boys will get upset and go and form their own commissions.

When your pot of money is so imbalanced towards the powerful, there's no way they'll ever change the status quo.

I think the bigger problem is that with all this out in the open who the hell would sign/resign with Allegedly if his company fails again?

Exactly what I have been wondering.

The plan of action I assume would be to get Queensbury up and running. Sack of fwpromos and try and talk fighters into resigning on the promise of big fights down the road.

If I were an unpaid fighter I would take everything said with a pinch of salt and look for a move. You only have to see Khan and his bank balance to see what a good move does for your career.
