Here's an opportunity (for anyone) to prove or at least logically argue that Interbox does lowball fighters. Info from an article at the Scene; ******************* Pavlik wasn't happy with his two fight package, which guaranteed him $50,000 for Cunningham and $1.35 million for a Bute showdown in November. In several interviews, he voiced his displeasure over the amount of money offered to Kessler - because he considers himself to be a "bigger name" than the Danish superstar. The Scene, through various indviduals, was able to confirm that Kessler's guarantee for Bute was only $750,000 - a far cry from the reported $3.5 million dollar guarantee. Besides the 750K, Kessler would have also received a fee from Showtime and 100% of the money from Danish television. Kessler, who turned the offer down, would have made a lucrative amount of money from Danish television, but that has nothing to do with Pavlik's guarantee - although it does play a role in Kessler receiving a smaller number as Bute would have received 0% of the Danish TV money. ******************* Sartison (Dec 10): $400K offered, fought a can instead Kessler (Jul 11): $750K + Showtime money + all of Danish PPV revenues offered, said it was a "1 Danish Krone" offer (no articles on counteroffers) Rehab Pavlik (Jul 11): $1.35M offered, fought his partying habits instead ...who necks?
Fair enough. I think Froch would earn upwards of $1M for sure if he fought Bute. Hopefully they release those terms to the public if the fight is signed. I'm curious to see if Ward will fight Anthony Dirrell in Oakland in the spring, or wait until the summer to fight Kessler. From Ward's perspective, pretty sure the difference in purses between a home Dirrell fight and an away fight vs Kessler or Bute would be enormous.
Kessler, Pavlik, Johnson (initially) All claimed to have been lowballed. Looks like a trend to me. In kesslers case the offer equalled a 70/30 split or thmerabout. In favour of the guy with homefield advantage obviously ..... A purse offer of 400k for a unification with Sartison seems very low as well. Merry x-mas guys.
Arum couldn't believe Pavlik pulled out of a fight that got him a 1.35M guarantee. First offer to Johnson was indeed low. If Froch gets over a 1M for a Bute fight, will the 'trend' be broken? Merry xmas Bat. :smoke
I cannot see Froch accept a 1m offer at all. Hé Can easily make that amount fighting a domestic clubfighter in Nottingham.
Hey, I said "over 1M". Which could be 2 or 3 for all we know, right? :good Froch put his WBC belt at stake in a major SMW fight recently and lost. How much did he get for that? Now that he has no belt, can't you see him taking a multi million 50/50 deal to fight Bute once or even twice?
Haha. Oh yeah. I don't know what he Got for Ward? I Can absolutely see him take a 50/50 two fight deal with Bute. I reckon a stumbling block could be venue. I'd expect Froch to want homefield in the first fight. Hopefully it gets made. Its an excellent match-up.
Good to know, thanks! With the August 11 date booked at the PEPS stadium in Québec City... I hope that Interbox would agree to do Nottingham in the spring, and suggest Québec City for the summer fight. Fingers crossed. Go make millions, guys. :smoke
Looks like a very common excuse (having enhanced credibility due to repetition, it is a clear top choice for Bute's potential opponents staff). The 70/30 is your own estimation and should be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, keep in mind that Bute has a champion belt while Kessler doesn't (right now). Sartison?! A C class contender actually with no belt (so no unification). A 400k purse looks more than fair. Same to you.
You forgot to mention the Stieglitz offer, let me find it in an old thread of mine and I'll post it here.
