big george foreman on the hardest punchers

No big surprise. Williams was a noted puncher. At a time one of the biggest.

PS. Tyson knew George was a wolf in sheeps clothing.

 

Tyson would've ****ing obliterated old ass Foreman. Cus instilled that supposed fear in him. It wasn't warranted.

 

It just spooked him, mate. Mike was in awe of Foremans killer instinct, he just didn't know that there would be a time when he would be a viable opponent.

He knew his real character. Cus had him study all the old time fighters and told him about each fighters biggest strengths.

He told him that no small pressure fighter like him was ganna beat Foreman, that he was a real killer and he didn't buy into the nice guy act. None of those people with Cus did. That's why Teddy Atlas was getting at him before Moorer.

No one can blame Mike. He held on to Cus' every word and it would've been a HUGE mental block to face Foreman.

 

Foreman was never a viable opponent for Tyson though. Foreman started calling for Tyson during the first year of his comeback. Knocking over stiffs and promoting yourself endlessly on news programs and in the press doesn't qualify you as a viable contender. Foreman wanted the money, because, as he said later in his book, he came back because he was "broke as a goat." The money was in a championship fight, so, naturally, Foreman was going to call out whoever held the belt. Foreman still hit hard as an older guy, but he was not in Tyson's class.

 

Unfortunately they never fought.

I would have taken Foreman by ko because Tyson could not run & box, and would have had to walk straight into Foreman.

Foreman by TKO in 3 rounds.

 

"I never fought Earnie Shavers, thank goodness!":boltGeorge would have stopped Earnie, but with his size and lack of defense would have absorbed some monstrous shots in the process. It would've been interesting to hear him compare the power of Shavers with Tyson's.

 

Thank you! It amazes me how people get taken in by Foreman, let alone old Foreman. Actually, particularly old FOreman.

 

Some people go as far as to try and claim Tyson avoided George, but it's a crock.

I reckon old George may have been nuisance value with his strength, size and chin. Well, he'd certainly have given a better effort than some of the challengers going in scared defenseless. But he never did enough to earn it of course.

I'd take peak Goerge to stop Tyson.

 

Peak George would have been a different story for sure. But comeback George would have been way too slow and easy to hit to be competitive with Tyson. Old George might have extended Tyson some rounds and made Tyson work, but I can't fathom any way that George could have won or even been competitive. Foreman's single-shot punches would not be enough to stun or drop Mike. And that's even if George managed to land on Tyson, who was very elusive. But I reckon George wouldn't have minded taken a whipping for several million dollars!

 

Hard to argue with any of that.

 

Foreman is the one who didn't sign on the dotted line.
