Not TRUE.......Helenius was ranked 3rd before the Chisora fight, and dropped the very next day 5 spots and below Fury who beat a 263lb drunken Chisora.

It is what it is.....Wlad is #1 and rightly so having beaten 11 former titlists and every contender that has agreed to fight him with the exception of Sanders.

Helenius on the other hand has beaten 3 former world champions, the former UK champ Chisora, and several other Euro fringe contenders like Bydenko, Tony, and Levin.

IMO.....based off CPU calculations, Helenius has the 3rd best HW resume and is still the 3rd best HW despite his narrow and controversial win over DelBoy. Remember that Robbe was fighting with a pulled ligament(sprain) in his R forearm and a 2 broken metacarpals in his R hand after he plunked DelBoy with a thunderous cross after one minute into the first round.

But.....b/c boxrec is controlled by the UK, they scored the fight a win for Chisora, moving him WAAAAAAYYYYYY up the rankings and Helenius down them.

People claim the boxrec rankings are purely computerized, but if that's the case, Helenius would still be #3.:hi:

    Was that ever proved?

Also, i took the recent rankings because that is how it is now. I agree that Helenius have a good resume. I thought so since he beat Sam Peter. Peter at least was a good win. Interesting to see when Chambers - Liahkovich fights, how Liako will fare there. Then we can gauge Helenius and Chisora even more.

My point was merely that DelBoy IMO should at the least be ranked closer to Helenius, but as Boxrec only cares about W´s, L´s , D´s (Even if the decision is controversial) and level of activity, he does not.

The reason chisora has climbed the rankings is not because the helenius fight was scored as a win, but because it was an SD with a much higher ranked opponent. This means he will in fact gain points. In addition to this, Mormeck was ranked higher, he has not boxed for over a year, so no longer appears.
Holyfield will have lost points due to not boxing anyone close to his point total for a long time.
Peter will have moved down as it has been nearly 2 years since he won
Boswell and Ibragimov have suffered recent KO loses.

I am surprised to see Helenius move down so much, to lose 5 places despite not losing, but Huck accounts for one place, Fury will gain more for his KO win, Povetkin had a KO win against a fairly high opponent, I'm not sure why Chambers and Adamek would now be higher, maybe because they have beaten opponents with higher scores, or Helenius may have infact lost points from his SD win over chisora due to fact it was so close and chisora was ranked so much lower

No what you meant was, it is corrupt and people are paying to increase their rankings and there isnt really an algorithm

I'm not sure I understand what you mean,
the points scored are affected by the judges scorecard for a decision win, the average difference between the scores for the winner and loser are used in the formula.
"The winner cannot lose points for KO, TKO, RTD, DQ, TD and decisions on points with cd=1" (cd is the average difference between the points for the winner and loser on the scorecards).
It does not say the winner cannot lose points for a split decision, Helenius and chisora cd=0.67

But seems like you answered that yourself now. That it does not factor that.

That it doesn't factor what? I'm not really following what you are saying.

Pretty weird considering, that to the best of my recollection , when Haye, Adamek, and Gomez moved up they weren't even ranked that high by that system. Not until they won a match or 2 at the level. And I fell the majority of boxing fans found them to be more competitive and more likely to succeed then Huck's chances.

The prefight medical reports are out there about the sprain, but it is such a common injury that many fighters refuse to cancel a show b/c of it. When it's not a serious sprain they often fight with them.
Basketball and football are both sports where these types of injuries are played through on a daily basis. Definitely not the major cause of Helenius slapping with the R hand, but the broken carpals WERE.......Boystov's career has literally stalled to the point of near derailment due to these types of injuries.....I'm personally hoping such is NOT the case with Helenius whom I consider the heir apparent to the K2 throne.

Oh i see, i get you now. Yes, it does factor that, it makes a huge difference. How far ahead someone is on the scorecards comes into it,
As I said, the winner cannot lose points for a win by KO, TKO, RTD, DQ, TD. But it is possible for the winner to lose points if they win by a SD, which I assume must have been the case for helenius against chisora.
I think this is good, as someone said Helenius and chisora should be more closely ranked after that fight, and due to the way the point system works their scores have become closer.

my main issues with it is that you get these odd occurrences of Huck appearing at number 3 out of nowhere just because he has a fight arranged. And old guys like holyfield linger in the rankings too long based on past glories
