One of the best centers of all time in yhe NBA. He was 6'10 without shoes. Was known for having extremely agile movements for a guy his size. His footwork and speed is unmatched by any other. Has the most blocks of all time in the NBA, with great athletic ability and timing. He also had great strength to top it all. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBrEsNS9zKg[/ame]
True, but he was a fighter that trained under Bruce Lee....who was not just an actor for those of you that will utter such nonsense.
Not terribly well. Extremely agile for 6'10 but I'd take a 6'5" fighter who's got great movement to tear through him. Diminishing returns and all that.
What a player, though. Pure finesse. What people don't realise is that apart from holding the all time record in blocks (when he retired) he was also top 5 in steals, which is unheard of for a center.
I will assume the thread starter is suggesting iF Hakeem had been into boxing as a youth and started then. That said, with the head he had on his shoulders, his poise, and dedicatiopn to his sport, he'd have some success. Maybe not world champ success, but some level.
I think the OP means if Hakeem took up boxing at an early age instead of basketball (which he didn't even play until he enrolled at University of Houston). He has the athletic ability for sure and intelligence. But what we don't know is if he had the ability to take punches and fight on. That's what makes boxers different, the willingness to take the kind of punishment most athletes won't dare go near. If he has this, I'm sure he'd make for an excellent heavyweight. Again, there are a few IFs here. Hakeem is one of my favorite centers of all time. Just look how he makes Dwight Howard look like a stiff. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mArHU1ewSog[/ame]
