He's fought absolutely everyone and their mother and has only 2 losses.

    So, what say you?

I think Cotto's time to become an ATG has come and gone, unfortunately.

I think he's improved, technically as a boxer, but perhaps his physical skills aren't quite what they were. His punch resistance has most likely been lessened as a result of a few wars too. If he'd beaten Pacquiao we'd probably be already talking about him in ATG terms but unfortunately he fell at that hurdle. I'd still love to see him fight Mayweather.

You don't think his resume gets him in?

Pacquaio(who is an atg himself) is the only fighter who beat him legitimatly, so you would have to say he has a good resume because he fought the best in his division and the beat the best. It's not his fault that he couldn't get that Mayweather fight, Floyd never wanted to fight him when the fight was suppose to get made. It can still happen though.

No, unfortunately. He's HOF, no doubt. Not ATG. His resume is great, don't get me wrong, but he just hasn't beaten the big names to class him as an ATG.

A Hall of Famer for sure, but ATG is more limited than one might expect initially. I love Cotto but I see ATG's as the top 100 fighters more or less, and there have been too many more accomplished than Cotto.

Cotto isnt even a hall of famer. The first champion he beat was Yuri Foreman who wasnt even the 5th best fighter in his division.

Cotto has never established himself as the best in any division he's fought in. His best win is an old Mosley. After that, Zab Judah lol. No way is he Hof let alone an ATG.

I would think that should see him become an ATG providing Canelo goes on to do good things.

Old Mosley? You claimed Floyd beat the best version of Mosley.

And Cotto fought Clottey, Margarito, and Pac - all guys that Floyd ducked.

When I watch Cotto I dont feel like Im watching an ATG in action; this is probably because he isnt. With or without plaster I dont think Margs fights with Shane and Pac would have been different, heavy hands does not help your punch resistence, movement, speed and skillset. ATGs prob put Marg away 10/10. Cotto - HOF yes, ATG no.

Yeah obviously, becoming an atg is difficult stuff, avenging all his losses and winning a 160 title vs the best guy would help a great deal.
His resume and career is hof already but that might be it in the end.

When did I claim Floyd beat the best version? The Mosley Cotto and Mayweather fought were more or less the same. With Mayweather not needing to run the last 2 rounds to eek out a 1 point victory in New York.

Clottey beat him. He got a gift. Cheato beat him. And Pac demolished him. The same Pacquiao that just got schooled by a lightweight.

Cotto aint and never has been anything more then a B level top rank hype job. Muther****er was getting wobbled by Malignaggi and had to move up because of it. :yep
