Sugar Ray Leonard beat Duran, Hearns and Hagler.. the rest can squabble for the crumbs.

Leonard is the best. Good defense, amazing offense. Incredible handspeed. KO power in both fists. Chin / heart, intagibles, everything. Pretty much the perfect fighter, hard to find a single fault in him.

    This too .

    It goes like this:

    Leonard

    Whitaker

    Jones

    Floyd

The gap is not big at all between Leonard and Whitaker.

Are we talking how good they are or how great they are? I was basing that gap off of all-time status. Either way I still think the gap is fairly big. You cant rate fighters on skill alone, you have to look at intangibles, things like heart, willpower, chin, etc. Ray had all of that in spades. It's hard to even rate Roy Jones in those areas since he rarely got tested. Ditto for Floyd.

Its one thing for boxing nuts to critique fighters but the man on the street wants to know who they beat.. Whitaker beat Paez and Mcgirt(just:D) RJJ beat BHop and Toney, Floyd beat De la Hoya and an old Mosley.
    So it should go:

    Sugar Ray

    RJJ

    PBF

    Whitaker

This is where Floyd is being incredibly short sighted, wins over Pacquiao and Cotto would help cement him historically.

Agreed. :good And While I rank SRL and Pea pretty closely together, after that there's a bit of a gap before we get to Jones and Mayweather.

Mostly agree with this too, although I think that while Pea often fought in a very unorthodox and less than technical manner, he is at least in the running with Mayweather as far as being technically sound, if he doesn't surpass Floyd.

That said, Floyd definitely relies more on technical prowess and is the closest of the four to fighting in an orthodox manner.

Would Leonard have beat Jones at 160?
