I spoke with Miguel Vazquez today and he informed me that his IBF title 135 lb title defense was moved up to the 21st of January. He was also offered a chance to face Lamont Peterson for the 140 lb titles. Should be an interesting fight.

If Peterson decides he's going to mess with Khan and defend his titles against other people instead of give Khan the rematch, Khan might as well start exploring fights at 147 in anticipation of his eventual permanent move there. He might as well stay active and accomplish SOMETHING, rather than either stay inactive and stew, or take stay-busy fights at 140 with people that he would not have bothered with as a 140 champion.

    Whoa, gutsy.

Sign it, I say. :deal It would be a fun chess match.

**** you, Khan. Get in line behind a little-known lightweight.

though I think Lamont is at best a checkers player...

Miguel may be little known but his resume is world class. He fought Canelo at 147, faced Bradley, dominated Prescott fresh off his win over Khan, extinguished the Korean Volcano, Finished Zappavigna, outclassed Dominguez....

Very interesting fight if the same Peterson that demonstrated that determination in the Khan fight shows up. I don't think "El Titere" will have enough power at 140 to make Lamont respect him.

Vazquez is good but pretty boring. Don't particularly want to see this fight with the other match-ups that could be made.

  12. He actually fought Canelo twice. He made his pro debut against Alvarez (2-0, 140 lbs. at the time) and lost an SD4. Fought him again at 147 and lost UD10.

He also did NOT stop Zappavigna.

Here it is: Miguel was originally trained and managed by his father who is an ok trainer and a not so good manager. Miguel's father had him face Canelo at 147 as the purse was good. MIguel's father finally realized that his son needed a better trainer and he reached out to Javier Capetillo. Capetillo basically made them realize that Miguel was a lightweight.

Yeah but he ended him psychologically. I was present backstage after the fight... Lenny Z was over at this point.
