Boxing fans want that fight. :bbb Showtime wants that fight. :bbb Bute wants that fight, even in Oakland. :bbb And Ward? atsch Only Ward and his nut lickers doesn't want it. :nono
Ward wants more money, that greedy son of a god. If Bute dominates Froch, Showtime will put the pressure on alright. Should be no issue coming up with 'the right money'. For now, Ward is dismissing Bute as a no-namer so to promote a Bute-Froch fight. So much about respect, Andre...
It's very egregious what Andre Ward is doing here and everything he has said regarding Bute only implies his weariness towards a potential match up. Ward has thrown out a plethora of reasons why he shouldn't have to fight Bute but it all boils down to Ward believing Bute is not worthy. Ward is using the non-participation of Bute in the super-six tournament against him as an excuse not fight him. It's a way to deflect from not having to fight the number two 168 pounder in the world. Here's a quote of Ward talking about Bute. Obviously everyone says Bute is the next guy. He is the second highest ranked fighter in the division. It's the biggest fight that can be made at 168. Ward needs to understand that the tournament is over. Ward is the winner and now people want him to fight the best guy outside of the tournament, not unofficially continue the tourney by fighting opponents Ward's already beat. The unusual thing about this situation is Ward has shown a willingness to fight the best fighters in his division but for him to publicly come and give reasons why he shouldn't have to fight Bute, only days after his super-six win, shows that he is cautious about Bute and he is weary about the fight. It's very unusual for a fighter to publicly announce he is going to avoid a fighter as opponent but that is exactly what Ward did when speaking about Bute. There is no comprehensible explanation why Ward made public that he shouldn't have to fight Bute besides the fact he doesn't want the fight. Ward vs Bute already stands to be a bigger fight than the super-six finale. It's very nonsensical for Ward to say the number two ranked fighter in the division isn't worthy of a shot. Ward also saying Bute willfully sat back while the other 168 pounders fought in the super-six is dishonest as well. Ken Hershman, the man who masterminded the tournament didn't invite Bute to participate. Not only that, Ward calls out a fighter he already beat, who is currently ranked lower than Bute. It's clear looking at the situation, Ward-Bute is the biggest fight that can be made in the division, the fans want it, the Boxing media wants it, Bute wants it but Ward doesn't and has no quarrels making that fact public.
Add to that the fact he was playing matchmaker with Froch in the post-fight presser saying "That'd be a good fight for Carl!" smiling at Froch, after saying in an annoyed fashion "You know what? Bute needs to beat somebody." I'd be curious to know what Showtime execs think about the whole situation. Bute still has 1 more fight with them, not sure about Froch/Ward.
So Ward will be fighting lesser opposition (Dog Dirrell) than 'unworthy' Bute to.. survive? :blood If Bute doesn't deserve it because he's so much of a loser, Ward should take his belt. Piece of cake, right?
Honestly, what would compel Ward, only days removed from his super-six tournament win, to come out publicly with reasons why he shouldn't have to fight Bute?
Pretty much...Whenever a fight doesnt happen when people want it to...they'll pretty much call it a duck! Thats the way of thinking on ESB.:-(
That's probably because Espinoza, the new guy at Showtime (re: Hershman's departure), came out publicly and said "this is a natural fight to put together, I'll put pressure on both teams to make it happen" or something along those lines. All you hardcore Ward fans... even Fat Dan is saying the only person who doesn't want the fight right now is Ward. :good http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7372586/andre-ward-lucian-bute-bout-looks-unlikely-time-being
