Who has the more well-rounded skillset? Who has the better balance between ability on the feet and ability on the ground? Who is more versatile? I'd like to discuss the respective abilities of Georges St Pierre and Jon Jones with these questions in mind. I won't make a poll, because the questions and the whole concept are vague and open to interpretation. :bbb
Are we talking about this GSP who prefers to wrestle-**** someone to death or the GSP who actually finished fighters a few years ago? Because if thats the case then its him. Give Bones another year in the sport..
it's hard to have a year as good as Jones did, he's just not just winning he's fininshing top guys which is a criticism that GSP has been getting. Jones is still Young and hasn't had to face much adversity because of his dominance which is incrediable considering how easily he has been beating guys. I think it's close but will have to give Jones a few more fights to see if anybody can get to him. GSP has been around a while now and still has lost very few rounds in his whole career.
GSP was finished twice, while Jones has ****ed up every opponent on his record. He does things GSP can't..
Jones has huge physical advantages which help him in his wrestling, submissions and his striking. If Jones is 6 foot, do I believe his level of striking would have been as effective or do I think his submission against Machida would have been pulled off - the answer is probably no. GSP often presents himself as limited as he is adverse to being hit. He is very much the Floyd Mayweather of MMA. We watch from an artistic/performance perspective but we sure as **** aren't watching because we believe we will see the level of violence we want to see! GSP pot shots with his striking, pot shots with his take downs and he is all about being in position. GSP could go hell for leather with someone, he can strike with every limb, wrestle, submit and throw in some fancy **** from his karate, yoga, gymnastics training. Jones will look better even though there is nothing he can do that GSP can't. Maybe if Jones gets ko'd or submitted or fatigues then such holes in his game will change his style. At this level, fighting is alot more to do with the mind and Jones is in a better mental state that GSP.
Come back when Jones is 30. He does things nobody else can because of his Dhalsim freakiness, does it make him a great fighter? Time will tell. This content is protected
I think Anderson is more skilled than either of them. But to answer the question GSP has more ways of beating an opponent than Jones has, because you can't out wrestle him and you can't out strike him. And if he's worried about getting submitted you can't even take him down. But Jones has the tools to look much better at winning
It isn't the height, it's the reach. If he had a 76 inch reach, instead of an 84.5 inch reach, he probably wouldn't be champ right now. Hell Fedor has a 74 inch reach, which is 10.5 inches shorter.
