I would have thought both cards were getable. Maybe Sky will get Ortiz to hype Brook.

I dont think any one off fight will bring in the numbers. But 2/3 solid months will move it up to 30/40K.

Think they probably need to roll the dice and invest in some mainstream advertising though.

One thing we know for sure already – none of it will be Fwank’s fault!

I still can’t get it since they opted to ignore the essential online market in a desperate grab for the one platform that costs them a bundle.

I spoke to a friend who runs a digital marketing company (and a very big one at that – you’ve likely seen a lot of its work recently) and he was saying that TV is a notoriously expensive market to join because of the platform, the production, etc. This wasn’t related to BN, btw, just a chat about one of his US clients who is trying to launch a special interest channel.

They advised them to forget about traditional distribution since it costs a fortune and you can’t target it. Instead, he recommended an online-only offer initially. In fairness they were talking like 200,000 viewers all paying $15 or something, so the money on offer was a lot bigger and I suspect the product was a lot cheaper.

If I was BN, I’d scrap the British angle and focus on getting international fights and broadcast them online with an HD quality archive of those fights and older ones. Personally I’d pay for an archive of older fights in decent quality all on demand. Don King tried it but made the sign-up process so painful everyone gave up.

Yes. Frank said 2 fights a week, costing us £1.25 a pop. It made perfect sense and is what we wanted but at the end of month one this seems to be falling apart. I'll stick it out but I'm simply reporting what I'm seeing.

They don't have their **** in order i.e. domestic fights and on top of that they don't seem to be buying an international fight for each week as promised. There are ALOT of international fights which aren't getting bought. Are they hoping to buy them on the cheap at last minute every week?!

On their front page it says more analysis, more interviews... things that just aren't happening.

If they choose, they can quickly fill up this schedule. On their frontpage it says Mitchell returns but shock they schedule page is a mess with Williams still set to fight Conquest.

I'd only give this channel a chance when they start getting some decent fights on in the UK, they are trying to get us to sign up by getting fights from overseas. They are now have been offering tickets for shows, you'd probably pick one and they will pull the plug on the show with a week to go, after hotels and transport have been booked.

This simply isn't good enough for me, I want more for my tenner simple as that really :nono

They would be better off scrapping the live content. If SKY cannot make that financially viable, then there is little chance of other smaller programmers doing it.

It is best to concentrate on a classic boxing channel. For starters it would attract more fans, have less overheads and would be a vehicle to entice people to go out and watch bills live, rather than on their TV. Classic fans also tend to be older with bigger disposable incomes.

If this channel is going strong in its current format this time next year I will gladly eat humble pie...

I would think it would be on par with The Football Club channels, as either part of a generic sports package, or for a small monthly fee.

It's not good for the sport being on Sky - just it's worse for it being on BoxNation.
