Does anyone have primary source reports for Jack Johnson's alleged 3-round bout with Joe Jeannette on January 3, 1908 in New York?
No - not a direct fight report, but i've seen it mentioned a couple of times in write ups form the era etc. I take it your only interested in day after reports?

I have the January 1906 bout down as fought on the 16th ,a 3 rounder, no dec,in NY. This is taken from the appendix at the back of "Jack Johnson - In The Ring & Out"
Adam, don't think it happened, could never find any proof or even a hint that it occurred. Jeannette is quoted in the papers circa Jan 5, 1908 as seeking a Johnson fight.
Thanks. Yes, I have the 1-16-06 bout. but I don't think the 1-3-08 alleged bout took place, unless someone can come up with a primary source to confirm it.
Adam, I have a very good friend that just wrote a book on Jeannette and doesn't have anything on that bout. He also has a January 3rd article on Johnson but there is no mention of the match. I really don't think it ever happened But I will try to reach out to some other sources.
