Bute is a little better as far as resume goes. I'd say he's technically superior for sure. Lacy made a lot of mistakes that Bute hardly makes. I see your point, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens to Bute.
Well yes I'd say Bute was a little better than Lacy but he's done nothing to prove it and all his fans think they can talk **** about ATG's. Yes Bute is one of the best Romanian's of all time but he was KO'd by Andrade and Lacy was never KO'd by Reid.

Bute gets **** for his resume not his ability. If you remember Calzaghe was undefeated and had huge number of defences before he fought Lacy and he was still the underdog. Look what happened there, Calzaghe slapped the **** out of him for 12 rounds. Good thing for Bute is he can learn from Joe as he didn't let the fact his own country and media wrote him off affect his confidence.
Pemberton was 38 and not significant, Reid was shot( i loved Reid but it was clear he was done) and Tsypko wasn't a star making performance. The reason Lacy was so highly thought of was because he was an american prospect in a **** division. Lacy nearly lost to a fat Manfredo after the Calzaghe fight as well and got stopped by RJJs shell.

He's managed to avoid the quality opposition that would expose his hypejob ass much better than Lacy did. Lucy is a better ducker than Lacy could ever dream of being.
For now, he hasn't achieved that much more but a few extra defences of the IBF belt. Thing is...in the skill department, Bute has always been way ahead of Lacy, therefore he should be able to accomplish much more with that skill set. Anyone with a clear and unbiased view, also knew back in the days, that Ward would probably become the fighter he is today. At least the chances were very good since he always possessed that skill set he now displays to all. Andre Dirrell also has all the tools necessary to dominate. It's only a matter of mentally putting it all together. A guy like Lacy was never equipped to go too far because he wasn't as skilled, just as today a guy like Froch has gone just about as far as he possibly can with the limited tools at his disposal. The odds are heavily in favor of Bute achieving much more than Lacy ever could when it's all said and done, as long as he gets the opportunity to do so and no health issues, etc., come hinder his path...
