How Good Would Prime Roy Jones Jr. Do in the Ring Against Prime Mike Tyson?

prime RJJ was 168 or 175, Tyson was in the 200's and was a physical specimen himself

i doubt Jones would last more than a few rounds

 

Tyson would KO Jones Jr. within two rounds. He is bound to hit him hard early. Several times.

 

Prime Mike Tyson was WAY too fast and explosive for any version of Roy Jones to last more than a couple rounds. Tyson would only have to land one significant shot and I can't see the Tyson of 1987-89 missing 3 rounds worth of shots... even on a prime Jones Jr.

I guess if it were asked after the Ruiz fight then it would pose an interesting question; but since that we have found out Roy's chin is pretty useless and nobody hits harder than Mike. So the idea sounds a little ridiculous now.

 

This is not a fair matchup. Prime Jones is 40-50 lbs lighter than Tyson.

Replace Tyson with another Mike, as in Spinks, and we have an excellent matchup.

I would bet my ass that these are kids who didn't live in the era that Tyson completely and utterly dominated.

 

Prime Tyson overpowers and breaks Jones in under a round, Jones was not a heavyweight.
