i don't..... but i do respect it.. and i do respect that it is part of the sport, however personally i rather just see striking.... what is your opinion
If the fight goes to the ground and both guys try to finish it then yes, it can be great to watch, whether through submissions or GnP. However too often we see an exhibition of pure wrestling, where one guy is happy to just control the other on the ground and eek out a points win, which is incredibly boring. There is a reason why noone watches wrestling (Not the WWE Kind).
Hell no I boo and holler homophobic insults as soon as fighters go to the ground Gonna get my ass kicked one day Oh well
I dunno if I'd like to watch a fight on the ground live, it very well may suck ass being in the arena for that, but when the guys know what they are doing it's very exciting on TV. Demian Maia slapping that sub on Chael Sonnen was one of the most glorious moments of MMA I've ever seen.
Depends whos on the ground If its Fitch or GSP ill change the channel. If its Bones ill change my pants
Depends on how good the guys are on the ground. Just like standup. Watching horrible strikers do standup is boring.
Yeah, To an extent. I like the striking game much better but I enjoy good grappling as well. I can even appreciate guys like Jon Fitch although I wouldn't necessarily say I like it. I don't change the channel when he comes either though.
Well said.....It´s not good because you can´t see a thing, especially in an octagon......much better on TV... I like a good skilled ground fight.....I mean, Demian Maia vs Ronaldo Jacaré souza would be great to watch......
yes - but I didn't like to watch it until I started training in submissions. Unless you train in the art - there are so many things going on that the average viewer never comprehends.
It's the main reason I no longer bother watching MMA unless it's one of the few names I still kind of care about. (and even then sometimes can't be bothered if there's good or even passing fair boxing on at the same time, which there usually is). Used to be I'd sit through the matches contested mostly on the ground hoping there'd be some good pier-six stand-up brawls on the same card - or at the very least some slick sequences of BJJ sub attempts/escapes between two relatively high and equal talents. Those are exceedingly rare, however. Most of the sport is the **** I hate about it: wrestling, lay-n-pray, GNP. If not most, then more than I care to sit through waiting for the good **** (which even at its best isn't as good as boxing or K1, IMO - MMA striking has made strides to be sure, and can be entertaining but is still quite sloppy and primitive compared to the purer arts). So no I don't like ground game at all. (outside of high-level BJJ between two advanced practitioners...but for that, why not just watch a pure BJJ match?)
