Martinez wants a) a money fight, which Chavez is, and b) he wanted his WBC belt back.

Martinez won the titles from Pavlik. His WBC mandatory was Zbik. He said ok. HBO said no. He said fine, who then? HBO said Dzinriuk. Ok he said. WBC said no title no more, offered Chavez the shot at Zbik for the belt. HBO said yes to that.

Who do you think influenced that particular twist? Oh wait, there's Bob, chuckling at his cash cow.

So Martinez takes the Barker fight next and aims for a shot at his own belt. He's obviously not going to get it.

Golovkin only just sorted out his promotional issues to fight in the US. If there's money for the fight then I can't see why it wouldn't happen.

Pirog? Come on... he's beaten a prospect. What's he done to earn a shot at the champ? No more than Chavez that's for sure. Kouji I think will fall into the same "Who he?" camp.

But hey, Showtime are happier to pick quality over names. Sergio might get better quality fights on that network than on HBO.

Roach likes to get vocal for Khan and Pac. Not really heard **** when it comes to Chavez!

Martinez ain't big. If he goes over to Russia and loses then he is left with jack ****.

He needed one belt and just keep knocking off each of their contenders every 3 months. Eventually people sit up and listen.

He's the reigning champion. Why the **** does he have to go to Russia just to keep folk happy when Chavez is holding his old belt for doing **** all?

All he wanted was his belt back. The man was/is lineal, ring, wbc and wbo champ. What the **** has gone wrong other than some promoters have more pull than others!

Well technically Chavez is now the WBC champ. Yeah, it's all bull**** but that's boxing. Martinez didn't have to fight Dzinziruk on HBO, if he and his promoter wanted they could have fought Zbik. They chose to dance to HBO's tune and now find themselves in this predicament. Are Martinez and DiBella that gullible that they though the WBC would force the son of Chavez to fight Martinez?! No chance.

He doesn't have to go to Russia but he could. Pirog also holds a paper belt that should belong to Chavez but no one's shouting about that are they?

And what happened to alphabet belts not being important?

So the WBC are favouring a Mexican fighter. Now there's a shock.

This shouldn't really come as a surprise. Sulaiman is a serial ***** only looking to enhance his white mansion in the forest.

But Martinez isn't completely innocent. He is walking around calling out Manny and Floyd like he is a massive draw. He is pretty much a middleweight looking for every possibly advantage in the ring, but can't back up his words. He shied away from a Hopkins fight because he isn't big enough, yet calls out Manny.

He calls Chavez a fraud and cherry picker, yet is intent on fighting him and won't let up. Not once have I heard mention of Pirog, Lee, Geale or even Golovkin. He lands a good shot against Williams and beats a drunk Pavlik and suddenly he is demanding things left right and centre like Lady Gaga on speed.

My patience with the entire middleweight division is running thin. there are literally dozens of good match ups possible here between the likes of Segio, Golovkin, Sturm, N'jikam, Lee, Macklin, Pirog, Baker, Chavez, Geale, Quillin and many more, but nothing significant has been happening. 2012 has to be the year that the division comes alive and we finally get some quality fights or else boxing fans will become disillusioned with it

Unfair - he's a career 154lb fighter, not a proper middleweight. He was obscure for years and is trying to leverage his champion status to get a big fight. Every fighter does it when they get the chance because they want a money fight for their retirement. Unfair to criticise him for simply asking for it.

Most picked Pavlik to beat him. Let's not rewrite history to suit an agenda. Same with Williams - Martinez was not the favourite and he decimated Williams.

Let's also go through those names: Pirog has one notable win over a prospect. He's a 19 fight novice who is completely overrated for what he's done. His last two fights were against Russian club fighters, FFS!

Golovkin has been having promotional issues that will hopefully be solved soon. He is not able to fight in the US because of them. HBO and Showtime will not give the money for a fight overseas. He's got a reputation from sparring but who has he fought to make him worthy? Kassim Ouma? Who had lost five of his last eight fights?

Andy Lee? Really? He's in the mix but come on... what's he done to merit a shot? He'd lose to Chavez.

Geale's got a decent win over Sylvester, but there's not much to make him a significant challenge and there's certainly no money in it.

It's a **** division at the moment and Martinez is miles ahead. Barker and Macklin are on a par with most of these guys. Barker proved that in the ring with Sergio (and too many discredit Martinez rather than credit Darren), Macklin by losing a razor-thin decision against Sturm.

Lot of shocking posts in here. Flea, mate, you're more balanced than this usually.

Martinez ain't a middleweight. He has been the smaller guy in his last 6 fights whether it was at 154 or 160.

Pirog is a better quality fighter than Barker and (arguably) Dzinziruk. What did they do to deserve a shot?
