Hey guys i'm kind of new to boxing and recently started watching a lot more boxing videos and documentaries. I've seen Fight of their lives and Thriller in Manilla and thought they were so well made and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of documentaries like these? There's a good Ruby Wax feature on Don King which is probably on YT somewhere. I'll have a look at the weekend. Tyson is a pretty good film - a little long but it does a great job of letting Tyson speak. Well worth a watch. HBO's Legendary Nights series makes for great entertainment but make sure you watch the fights in question. The editing is always slanted in favour of either controversy or an agenda. You'd have sworn Taylor had beaten Chavez half to death from the way it goes on. Anyway, this guys has a good list. Have a look: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8C8C304F39A298FF
I enjoyed this one: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-XxF3kmG8k[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqFds7ZMscI[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kN6iU2laKM[/ame]
The Oscar winning When we were Kings would be a must, and follow that up with Champions forever, and you will have a solid base to the history of 60s/70s Heavyweights. Unforgivable Blackness is a excellent read as a book, and some say the documentary is pretty solid as well.
30 for 30 - Muhammed and Larry... A very sad documentary about Ali's fight with Larry Holmes.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlsPwDgTGgY[/ame] And Mike Tyson - The Fallen Champ [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlQ4OzlZ4MQ[/ame]
I came on here to post just that; on iPhone but it's on YouTube on it's entirety if anyone can link it.
I used to love the old Fight series - they showed it years ago on ITV or C4: Schmelling-Louis, Frazier-Ali, LaMotta-Robinson etc. They were excellent doc's. Don't know if there's a link to them anywhere though. I have them on VHS - will have to get switched over to DVD asap.
unforgivable blackness is a great read, you know of any books of a similar standard? i've read soul of a butterfly by ali and his daughter, not really what i was expecting but a good insight into the man rather than the boxer.
Just seen this on Rosstraining blog . [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tu3bxJOmm4&feature=player_embedded[/ame] http://rosstraining.com/blog/
