    Quote chapter 4 of 'The Art of War'.

    Sun Tzu said: The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy. To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

    Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy. Hence the saying: One may KNOW how to conquer without being able to DO it.

    Security against defeat implies defensive tactics; ability to defeat the enemy means taking the offensive. Standing on the defensive indicates insufficient strength; attacking, a superabundance of strength. The general who is skilled in defense hides in the most secret recesses of the earth; he who is skilled in attack flashes forth from the topmost heights of heaven. Thus on the one hand we have ability to protect ourselves; on the other, a victory that is complete.

    To see victory only when it is within the ken of the common herd is not the acme of excellence. Neither is it the acme of excellence if you fight and conquer and the whole Empire says, "Well done!"

    Floyd Mayweather is not the only fighter to whom such a description applies to. I read the Art of War, and such a description applies to any well-rounded fighter on the elite level with great accomplishments. And Floyd is not perfect. He's an ATG, but I don't see what applies to Floyd so exclusively.

    Whats the pointof boxing, it isn't truly life or death sensationalist *******! Only idiots doubt the ability of Mayweather Jr, unfortunately in boxing you can't respect a man who doesn't go into great battles. i believe he could beat basically everyone out there but seeing him avoid the battle altogether is worse than defeat in most of our eyes

    History remembers and glorifies prime ali frazier, hagler hearns. etc Mayweather has no trilogies or even great fights. maybe ODLH gets a mention but damn... pacquiao will be remembered as the brave warrior.

    Floyd Mayweather is nothing but a loud mouth, big headed, egotistical, wannabe thug that is an embarrassment to the human race, mocks God, hits the mother of his child, humiliates his own father on TV. threatens his kids, and is now going to jail. He is a pathetic low life that needs to stay in jail for life. Good riddens you punk!!!!!!
