One sided ud win for Garcia, poor performance by him, the long layoff could have effected him though, hes capable of looking a lot better.

He needs a challenge big time, get him an opponent that will actually try and fight him and you will see his full ability on display. He just did as he pleased tonight unfortunately.

I think Johnson made the fight very ugly and the clash with a southpaw didnt help but yeah he seemed too interested in showboating at times and a bit disnterested, but I honestly believe he's the type of fighter that ...the better the opponent the better he will perform!

Lou DiBella tweeting that he made that fight, thinks Garcia is super talented but failed to entertain and wasnt the debut he wanted although convincing..hope he didnt damage any chance of DiBella signing him!

When I look back on the year on Irish boxing, I can't help thinking whereas the amateurs are going from strength to strength, the pro game particularly in the 26 counties is floundering badly. RTE and Peters seemingly gone, Dolphil gone, Team Hyland taking their chances in America [and rightly so if their not getting the support here], Nowhere to Hyde promotions aren't putting shows on also. It's not looking good for next year, unless TG4 with Coyle or Boxnation with the Collins brothers promoting start running and broadcasting regular shows.
It's not much better up here in Belfast with the much talked about McCloskey show at the Odyessy in Feb/March quickly disappearing to Paul now boxing in MSG New York instead. Frampton for some reason is defending his Commonweath title in London rather than Belfast, and the two Martins, Lindsay and Rogan have simply vanished. The globe trotter Brian Magee boxes in Denmark which is another disappointment. It's obviously much easier to supply a boxer than it is to promote a show which Pat Magee [with Brian Magee] and Eddie Hearn [with Paul McCloskey] are doing.
On a positive note there is other talent from the country doing their stuff away from home with Macklin, Lee and the Hylands now based in the States, and Jamie Conlan and Stephen Ormond taking part in massive fights shortly in Britain. Conlan takes on former British champ Paul Edwards in an 10round contest in Liverpool on 21st January and Ormond is boxing Kevin Mitchell in London on 10th Feburary. Good luck to them and all our boxers in 2012.

Firstly, i had some serious day of boxing in Belfast yesterday, hit Gleann, Breens, Kronk and Midland and will have loads of snaps and videos drip-fed over the next two weeks. Conlan and Frampton both looking very sharp and ready.

Secondly, Happy new year. I can honestly say it's a pleasure sharing this thread with lads and despite the bun fights we have I know that this thread contains some of the most passionate Irish boxing fans going.

Thirdly, McCloskey is looking ready to fight as well but isn't sure on date or opponent. There will also be a bill featuring the Gleann boys will on that in January. If Team McCloskey don't announce a bill within the next couple of weeks then I going to announce a bill in Belfast for early March. '50-50 Fight Night' coming to a venue near you.
