Forced to watch MMA at my cousin's house who had the fight.

1 super knee and a kick to the stomach and the fight is over.

    you f'n serious?

I think they should make a rule that if a fighter goes down from a clear shot like what happened to Brock, they should give him a standing count to recover.

Take the points off and make it a 10-7 round

oh and yes, Lesnar finally met a guy his own size. He can't take a punch. These UFC guys are chumps.

Give me boxing anyday over this glorfied athetes.

MMA fighters are just as good athletes. You're an idiot if you think otherwise. :deal

But I do think MMA needs some sort of system like this.

That won't work in MMA. It's not kickboxing or a stand up art. If you can be finished on the mat with strikes the rules allow it. Either defend yourself intelligently or loose.

I suppose but I also think he has a point. A lot of fights are cut short because of guys not having a chance to recover.

But thats the name of the game. Why would you want your opponent to recover? You're trying to knock him out!
And it would never work. Its just not practical in MMA. Far too subjective with a fight possibly turning on a dime.

Not for the other guy, obviously he would love a quick KO but for the fans. Like in the JDS vs Velasquez fight, if he had been given a chance to recover then that fight might have went on for longer and a lot of people would have been happier.

Although when I think about it there is the flip side. In Fedor vs Werdum, if Werdum had been stood up and been given a standing 8 count then we might would not have seen the triangle.

In the end you are probably right. :good

But the fight could have also turned and JDS could have lost. This isn't boxing. Its MMA. :tong

Yeah you only have to look at Werdum and Frank Mir to know a heavily rocked guy can still be dangerous.

Oh and how many standing 8 counts would Edgar have had against Maynard. Part of MMA is the ability to survive. Some have it, others don't.
