Don`t be ****in ridiculous, its bad enough they have taken out head stomps & kicks to the face of a grounded opponent, you keep adding in stupid rules that make it less violent & what you get is further & further away from real fighting... which is not good, not good at all.

Then is it not fair to say he should not talk so much **** about it at least until he is clued up a bit more on the sport ?

I have seen standing eights used in a MMA format bout. Was an all styles event and rules were if a knockdown was caused by a clear strike indicated by at least two judges then that person was given a standing eight. They had the option of starting standing or on ground.

Worked well. Several of the bouts that ordinarily would have ended with fast stoppages instead ended up going the distance with multiple knockdowns. Crowd was going beserk.

I wonder if TV will push for the sport to go this way?

    No

I am a boxing fan and an MMA fan. I believe that they should eliminate the standing 8 count in boxing. If a guy is hurt then either finish it or stop it and not let a guy recover only to take more punishment.

Lesnar has NO idea how to defend against a striker and in the fight versus Overeem he stupidly fought Alistair's fight. the old rule "Never punch with a puncher"

Boxing is specialized but limited and yet a beautiful sport. MMA's athletes can do so much more but rarely have the precision of boxers.

MMA is born out of competition of proving who is the better fighter, in an actual fight. Let's not take away the major remaining aspect that even makes it close being a real fight.

8 counts in MMA would equal people dying.

No ****in way could they be used.

8 counts are one of the main reasons why so many boxers are ****ed up.

Also, Werdum wasn't even hit by Fedor.

He just flopped to the ground because he knew Fedor would follow.

I prefer a fair fight to a real fight, so I'm all for counted knockdowns, pride scoring and no elbows on ground and no soccer kicks to the face.

It's up to the ref mainly to do his jobs. Some of these fights end quickly, but honestly... Look at brock last night. After taking that kick, he just covered up, and Overeem had no chance to tire himself out, Brock has no chance to recover, he did not want to fight anymore.
I think it's a fine line with the things that happened like Fedor vs Hendo. I mean Fedor was clearly knocked out for a couple seconds, but when he came to he had enough wits to cover up.
Ultimately though it's up to the ref. Can't have guys laying unconcious taking full force punches. Some refs do stop it a little prematurely though, but boxing is getting that way too. Who gets stopped on there feet, without ever having gone down the entire fight, with no bad cuts/ injuries, and just cuz there covering up a little bit? If Gatti/ Ward were in this era of boxing they'd get TKO'd the first round in every fight.

Why don't you stick to tossing Pac's salad on the general forum?

    That much is fact.

Look, this probably has a lot to do with Lesnar not being able to take a punch or kick when he gets hurt. (Now, I know that knee and kick was legit as f*ck)

but come on...a ppv where its over in 2 kicks?

oh well, you get what you pay for.

Rule needs to be implemented. 10-8 or 10-7 rule and let the dude recover for 30 seconds since a kick and knee is way way more deadly than a punch with 4 ounce gloves.
