The Best Hands in MMA

Dos Santos imo

 

Dos Santos has great boxing but also some flaws he throws wide punches and keeps his chin up in the air. The best boxer in MMA is either Anderson or Mousasi (I think that he could beat anyone at 185 and 205 standing up)

 

Tempted by JDS and Anderson. Andersons an all round amazing striker, whereas JDS wrecks people purely with his hands. Ill go with Dos Santos

 

And I forgot Kharitonov he isn`t the most techniqual boxer(for boxing, but still better than 95% of the mma fighters) but got heavy hands and a granite chin. He but Helenius on the canvas in the amateurs (I think he deserved to win and would probably have won without the shitty amateur scoring)

Freddie Roach says Silva has the best pure boxing in MMA and I believe him. So he takes that but I voted for him to quickly.

It's actually the Diaz bro's they don't have that good boxing but the question is who has the best hands in MMA and that goes to the them.

 

My second choice would be JDS or Alvarez.

 

Roach's view is a good enough endorsement for me, and the stats clearly show Spider's strike accuracy is just a cut above everyone else.

 

Got to be Mr Anderson an I don't really like him but his timing, accuracy and speed are light years above every1 else!

 

Not a bad choice but I think their biggest advantage is their stamina + pressure. Technically Penn has better boxing skills than Nick Diaz but Diaz broke him down with size, stamina, and pressure.

 

The obvious question after reading that is : Why don't you like him?

 

He's arrogant and disrespectful the way he fought against Maia completely turned me against him, I just believe he's a bully! That's why bones is his new best friend!

Anderson is a vicious all round striker, his kicks/knees/elbows are a huge part of his game, he actually hasn't had that many fights where he's used his hands to particularly great effect (with one notable and obvious exception).

The Diaz brothers have very effective hands, even if they look sloppy as hell, but a big part of their game is wearing punishment and using their stamina and a build up of pressure to break down their opponents (as someone already pointed out, the BJ fight is a perfect example)

Wand, Fedor, Rampage, Hendo, etc. all obviously have heavy, dangerous hands, but Wand and Fedor both had other aspects of their respective games which were just as, if not more important than their hands (Wands clinch, Fedors ground). Rampage and Hendo have brutal power, but their both the archetypal wrestler/brawler hybrid, and more often than not relied on their chins holding out until they could land a massive bomb. Both struggled when faced with superior strikers.

JDS has built his career based purely on his hands. He has added to his game, especially recently, but his hands are by far his main weapon.

Surely Vitor Belfort deserves to be included in this discussion?

I like Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva, Junior dos Santos and Dominick Cruz as the best boxers for MMA, now that BJ Penn has retired.

However, Belfort should be being mentioned here.
