Been away a minute, sorry bout that just spendin more time with the fam and in the gym then on ESB.. All the hate here is bad for the spirit know what I'm saying ;).. Anyway just want to give my thoughts on the whole Serge to showtime news so basically yeah Showtime's big name right now is Andre Ward so if Serge is really headed there it must mean he is seriously considering that fight n IMO I'd love to see it happen.. Neither man has ever faced an opponent quite like the other and I think it could possibly the first time either man Main events a huge boxing PPV.. I'm a fan of both guys n I honestly think it's a great stylistic match up between a highly skilled defensive boxer n a powerful, athletic outside fighter.. Both are intelligent n both have proven to make stylistic in ring adjustments.. Make no mistake Andre Ward has more to lose here so if any side balks at making this happen I think it will be his. Serge is an old dog basically just looking to prove he belong among the best P4P fighters in the world and get a nice check while Ward is still young and has his entire future ahead of him. A loss to Serge would be devastating to Ward, and although it would hurt a loss to Ward won't be as devastating to Serge due to the fact that he is much older, fighting 2 weight classes above his most effective weight and is not too far away from retirement.

So if this fight does happen.. Will it be a PPV or televised Showtime Event?

    Thought n Opinions please....

AND HAPPY NEW YEAR to all you miserable ESB haters!!!.. HAHAAA Just Kidding :D

It would die on PPV. Doubt it happens anyway though; Martinez doesn't want to go all the way up to 168 and I don't think Ward would care to boil down much or at all.

Yea man I'd definitely pay to see 2 top quality fighters giving a top knotch performance. Unlike other p4p fighters these 2 hardly if ever give a disappointing performance. You know your getting a fight! I didn't have Showtime, but if Sergio is moving there I don't mind subscribing and might even cancel Hbo especially with their unjust treatment to Sergio and other fighters.

It'd be a good fight but in terms of PPV numbers I don't think it'd do too well.

**** must post about May or Manny in every thread :patsch

Martinez is unhappy/ possible leaving HBO and that leaves Showtime. Ward is with Showtime.

This would be a great fight, still a stretch to make, but more due to weights than anything else.

It's a great matchup but definitely not a PPV seller. Better on the undercard of a major PPV fight or on BAD.

Martinez almost has to go up to 168 to make this happen, I seriously doubt Ward would meet him at a more effective catch weight.

    Yup :good

Exactly!.. **** HBO n there hyped up reality stars

That could be true and honestly it's sad for boxing that two of the best fighters in the World could possibly be a huge failure as far as PPV numbers go if it were to go that route.

It's kinda funny but you're right :yep.. The winner of this fight could easily be #1 P4P but you know how it goes.. #1 P4P fighter spot usually goes to the biggest names.

I don't think he'd want to do so though unless Showtime threw a bunch of money at him, as Martinez got paid more for fighting a relative no-name like Barker than Ward did for fighting in the finals of the Super Six. He said he thought 168 was too heavy during the press conference, but that part got somewhat lost in translation and in all of the articles that subsequently appeared. A few months ago he said he'd never go above 164; not sure if he's more flexible now.

no not at all. Ward wins this easy Ward number 2 pfp in the world.
