GBP and Khan Promotions messed up big time by allowing the fight in D.C

It just made no sense if that was Khan's last fight at 140 to be staged in someone's backyard, even if Khan wanted the fight there GBP should of rejected that idea and kept the fight in Vegas and continued building Khan's profile up regardless of ticket sales were good or not.

Khan GBP top young fighter should had all the advantages being the bigger draw and the two time Champion at the weight, yet these guys staged the fight in D.C, did not push for any type of ref which would suit Khan, have a rematch clause in the contract.

This all seemed really poorly set up fight from GBP end or these guys were way over confident, forgetting if it became a close fight the judges would favor the home fighter, also the ref did not help matters by deducting points for a very uncommon foul and seemed like he was siding his home town fighter too, Khan had no chance unless he KO Peterson or totally outboxed him.

Bearing Khan was being lined up with a big money shot vs Floyd this year 2012, it just did not make business sense or worth the risk with Khan their top young fighter not having protection or even a fair chance to win, really poor promoting.

nobody to blame but Khan. the real reason Khan went to DC or if ANY fighter willingly goes to anothers hometown when they dont have to is because they overlooked their opponent and never even imagined it being close and thats the truth. khan might not want to admit he overlooked peterson but he did. Khans ego is crazy. before the fight he said he thinks he has more fans in DC then Peterson lol. he was wrong. nothin compares to hometown pride. i got family in DC and its like 90% black out there. big mistake by khan

Khan has a real fighters mentality he is a warrior type guy, but promotors are there for a reason, to protect their fighter, and in this case their fighter held all the cards yet they failed to give him as much help or protection as he can get.

Khan was really up against it fighting the home town fighter, the home town ref, the home town judges, the home town crowd.

Khan wanted it buddy. He disrespected Peterson by talking about a fight with Floyd all the time, he took his eyes off of what was infront of him and he paid for it; he's not the first fighter to do that, and he's not going to be the last.

the least he could have done was put a re-match clause in there. and its not for sure hes gonna win the re-match either. anything can happen

I find it funny you said that GBP should have done everything to get a ref that suited Amir?

So Fly a Ref over from Bolton for the night or pay off the ref and/or judges?

He is making a fool of himself with the whole appeals in ever direction ordeal. He needs to **** up and train hard. He is only young so it's not the end

They'd paid one judge off anyways, the one who had it 5 points for Khan.

I heard IBF gave them a list of ref's to pick from, they could of choose a different ref, I don't know if all the ref's in the list were from D.C

It will take time like all fighters, but then risking to fight in someone's backyard as a last 140 fight, don't make sense.

That was a good fight to watch, I am sure if that was in Vegas Khan stock would of grown still.

They put the Maidana and Judah fights in Vegas and the bombed. The casinos had to give away free rooms and tickets to entice people to come!

If Khan wants to build a following he has to fight regularly in the UK and build a fanbase that will follow him to the US. Seems unlikely though.
