Mozart was once disagreed with too, but a masterpiece is a masterpiece; and the judges saw a masterpiece that night.

Watching a master technician outboxed by Pacquiao was a thing of beaut.

He guys, it isn't that difficult. Compare the technique of punching, ring generalship, speed, power of the punch, athleticism, combinations to the head, combinations to the body, chin, defense, and weaknesses. Rate them out of 5. And don't go 5 fight back or so, look at the last 2 fights of the fighters.

    Pac:
technique of punching: little bit wild and leaves him self open at time(but makes it up with his speed) i would give 3 out of 5.
Ring generalship: Pac is ok at ring generalship, he moves fast, but as you can see in the mosley fight he didn't catch mosley because of his ring generalship. I would give him because of that 3 out of 5.
athleticism: Pac is a great athletic boxer. 5 out of 5.
combinations to the head: pac is very good and fast at throwing shots to the head. 5 out of 5.
combinations to the body: pac is a combination volume puncher, although he doesn't throw a lot of body punches. so 3 out of 5.
chin: Pac has a very good chin, 5 out of 5.
Defense: He isn't a great defensive fighter, but not every body has to. so 3 out of 5(at max)
weaknesses: his weakness is to fighters that has great headmovement(marquez) and boxers that box(or run) (see mosley fight).

    Floyd:"
technique of punching: very very good, textbook punches, 5 out of 5.
Ring generalship: it's one of his best attributes, his ring generalship. But as seen at the ortiz fight, he moves a lot in straight line back. so not 5 but 4 out of 5.
athleticism: Floyd is a good athletic fighter, so 4 out of 5.
combinations to the head: very good, 5 out of 5.
combinations to the body: 4 out of 5.
chin: 4 out of 5. because of the mosley fight
Defense: best defensive fighter at this moment, 5 out of 5
weaknesses: his weaknesses is to hard, though speedy guys that go to the body and head.

    Marquez:
technique of punching: one of the best textbook punchers, 5 out of 5.
Ring generalship:5 out of 5, for sure look at the last fight with Pac.
athleticism: Marquez isn't a very athletic boxer, so 3 out of 5.
combinations to the head: very very good 5 out of 5.
combinations to the body: 5 out of 5. last fight with pac
    chin: 3 out of 5.
Defense: a good defensive boxer, 4 out of 5.
weaknesses: his weaknesses is speedy boxers that out box him.

    So conclusion:
    Pac: 27 out of 35.
    Floyd: 31 out of 35
    Marquez: 30 out of 35

    Think of other attributes!

Actually MOST had Erik winning against Diaz at 135 which would have made him a champion in 4 weight classes after the 2nd loss to Pac. Not really a good fight to bring up to price how "shot" Erik is or was. And Erik was already talking about fighting Pac after the Raheem fight.......contracts were signed and Zahir was suppose to be a tune up. Like DLH over looked Strum by looking ahead to Nard..... EM made the dame mistake in the fight with Raheem.

Marcos isn't a very technically sound boxer but he was able to beat guys who were suppose to beat him because they were better boxers. He beat Ortiz who was good enough for Floyd unless you think Floyd isn't fighting opposition this "that good".

Boxing is not, and never will be, a simplistic comparison of attributes. If it were, Khan would have beaten Peterson, Mosley would have beaten Cotto, Forrest, and Winky, Floyd would not have had trouble with Castillo, Leonard would not have lost to Duran, Ali wouldn't have lost to Frazier, etc. It's not a video game and trainers don't go into fights just trying to get the most "attributes."

Styles make fights, and if one fighter has a habit of fighting in straight lines and consistently gives up the punching angle against a fleet-footed southpaw, then he risks having his opponent move to a place where he can be hit but can't hit his opponent. That's boxing. That's a reality that isn't at all complicated or overly analytical, and I have yet to see someone show me Floyd can control the punching angle laterally the way Marquez did to nullify Pacquiao's vital tactical asset of offensive and defensive movement.

Why are half the *****s in here complaining that I analyze the fight the way I do? I expected the *******ation, but they're supposed to be the ones who "know" boxing and love to talk "real boxing", and I get posts in here like "you dumb *******s, it's not that complicated, Floyd's big and fast and a counter-puncher, waaah".

ya if you were go to a gym, you'd know that Floyd is known for "stealing angles" back after an opponent takes an angle off him..HE JUST ISN'T AS OBVIOUS AS PAC-

FLOYD TAKES ANGLES OFF OF OPPONENTS, MUCH BETTER THAN PAC COULD DREAM OF:deal

Floyds footwork is levels above Manny's as is his ring IQ:deal

pac fight off balance, has no inside fighting skill, Floyd is stronger then Marquez. Floyd has fought fighters with speed and pop before, and knows how to fight opponents that are stronger and faster then himself.. Your post was a long wind of nothing, wishful thinking, Im hoping Pac reads your post, and tries this plan..

I've been boxing for years. I know what goes on in a gym and in a ring enough to know that unless you get you foot on the outside of a southpaw's, your own straight right is gonna lack the pathway to your opponent while your face is in-line for a straight left. I also know that pulling straight back is a no-no in boxing, and Floyd does it often, and it's gotten him hit and made him lose control. The way Marquez takes the angle away with lateral movement is the way you take away the angle from a fleet-footed southpaw. Without doing that, the fight will be more dangerous and competitive for Floyd than anyone thought. Between two forums and pages upon pages of discussion and bickering, I have yet to see someone show me a fight where he turns laterally in-range to take away the opponent's punching angle. Measuring the distance and counter-punching with efficient straight-lined steps and upper body adjustments is very impressive the way he does it, but it is not the equivalent, and one set of skills cannot replace the function of another.

This is exactly how I know you're a cheerleader more than you are a knowledgeable boxing fan.

Marquez and Mayweather fight completely differently; they set up their counters differently, move differently, feint differently, react to punches differently, etc. Mayweather is not simply a bigger, faster version of Marquez causeless his style is completely different.

Floyd has trouble keeping his lead foot outside a southpaw's and neglects lateral movement and backs up in straight lines. He's stronger, but doesn't force inside fights- he counters in the pocket brilliantly when faced with a traditional swarmer that stays there, which Pac is not, so your point is moot. Your post is nothing but ignorant dribble lacking of any facts or observations that counter my own propositions. Pacquiao doesn't need to read a forum to know to get his foot on the outside and land a quick left before restarting the angle, as I'm sure he's better at boxing than everyone here and is habituated to that style.
