Casual fans know Tyson as that crazy guy who bit some guy's ear off. So I guess fall.

It's slightly sad that everyone seems him as not human due to going to jail and biting somebody in a bout, but know nothing about him as a person or his career before the downfall.

I remember being introduced to boxing through his video game. I was about 7. After playing that game thats when i tuned into watching fights. In the 1980s tyson even manage to get his name spoken even among elementary kids the way kids today talk about tebow or whoever.

I don't know. Maybe his rise. He's seen as some kind of tragic figure.

Logically the fall, because his rise already made him somewhat famous by that point, and the fall came on top of that, and magnified his fame or infamy if you will.

Probably depends on how old you are too. I was born in '89, so I missed his rise. To me he was "the baddest man on the planet" and a known destroyer of a boxer, but it was his fall that made him famous. Him losing to Holyfield (and then the rematch, of course) are two of my earliest boxing memories.

I am only 15, so most people from my age have not seen him. Most people my age just know him for that and have never seen him fight.

You mean the young punks and punkettes only know about the ear biting... even boxing historians who hate Tyson would say the rise.

Tyson is iconic for being the youngest HW champion in history. His place in the record books can NEVER be matched or even equalled!

If you could count the number of times he's been discussed on message boards post-retirement, I bet it's prime Mike that was brought up 99% of the time. For boxing fans it would be his spectacular and dominating rise to the top.

For those outside boxing and those that didn't live through his 80's reign, I can imagine how his **** conviction and the numerous negative news stories after would stick out, aswell as his rubbish acting ability :D.
