You should first check a dictionary or theasaurus for all definitions or synonyms:

2.somewhat - to a moderately sufficient extent or degree; "pretty big"; "pretty bad"; "jolly decent of him"; "the shoes are priced reasonably"; "he is fairly clever with computers"
    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/somewhat

He was sufficiently famous to make his fall all the more spectacular.

The logic and terms used are correct.

Trust me ive heard it. Just go to any fight at a bar or friends house where either pac or floyd is fighting and you will hear it too from the casual fans.

Be as pedantic as you wish my friend but to describe Tyson in the 80's as 'SOMEWHAT FAMOUS' is ****ing ridiculous.

    (And its Thesaurus.)

He was the most famous man on the planet in the 80s! Ring rated p4p number 1 for 3 years! What other heavyweight has or ever will achieve that again? Everyone knew who he was, not just casual fans, everyone knew his name and face.

The Fall, he was a guy who had it all, the gifts, the talent, the right people

and then he got in with the wrong crowd, got away from what made him successful and went from invincible baddest man on the planet to a major fall

Yes many greats fall from grace but how many of the other great heavies that had that kind of acclaim like Sullivan Dempsey Ali and other fighters who became bigger than sport fell as hard as Tyson
